  • Big brew kit
Supplies (without the malts, syrup, grains, hops) to make five gallon batches of homebrew. You can find 5 gallon kits from Northern Brew Supply. They have everything from Pale Ale to Oatmeal Stout. Warning, my dog STEALS the malt out of the boxes when they are shipped in. So keep away from pets (I have an insane, gourmet poodle who tries all and anything edible.) You can purchase a burner, in case you don't want to tie up the stove. I have a gas stove, but I think with the size of the kettle, a gas burner is advisable. • Good starter kit
Let me start by saying that this is my first try at beer brewing. This kit has all you need but that beer ingredients and the bottles (or keg) to store things after. The kit comes with instructions on how to use all the included accessories as well a pretty good booklet on beer brewing in general. Please make sure to read over (at least) the instructions a few times to make sure that you've got all the steps down. I did make a small mistake or two myself. Note that the pot that is included will not allow you to boil all 6 gallons of wort (beer pre-fermentation); Instead first boil 3 gallons of just water then boil another 3 gallons with the ingredients. This does add some extra time to the cooking process. The kit also comes with 144 bottle caps but you still need to get 48 bottles once you're ready to brew. Unless you want to go straight to kegging. You'll also need a sanitizer, the kit only provides the cleaner powder. UPDATE: first brew has been ready to drink for about a week now. I made an IPA and it came out surprisingly well. Almost store-bought quality. ... show more

  • Great starter kit!
If you have pets, please dispose of leftover sediment and extra hops since it’s poisonous to dogs. The stainless steel pot is great quality and can be put in dishwasher for sterilization. I’m not sure if tools can be sterilized in dishwasher. Results of your brew may also depend on altitude. This kit included step by step instructions and enough to start experimenting with your own brew. It doesn’t include the recipe or a stopwatch (necessary). Great brewing is very precise. You can visit their website for more information and to order more supplies. A great starter kit with all the tools you’ll need to begin brewing. ... show more

  • Tools Only - Ingredients / Bottles Not Included
This is a very good starter brew kit. It has everything you need to begin your first batch of brew with the exception of the main ingredients: malt, yeast, hops, and bottles. You will need (and want) to purchase fresh hops, malt, and yeast from your local brew shop. The bottles can be those you purchased and already consumed. It is suggested that you use dark brown bottles. You are provided with a gross (144) bottle caps and the bottle capper tool. You are provided with enough additives to make 10, 5 gallon batches (50 gallons total). The book included gives you approximately a dozen different recipes ranging from IPAs to Stouts. The only problem that I have noticed is with the 20 quart brewing pot. The top is bent up pretty bad and does not sit flush at all. There is a 1 centimeter gap on two different sides. I am not sure how big of a problem this will be, but it is a concern. It will take at least a month from start to tasting before you can crack your first home brew. Hopefully, the wait is worth it. ... show more
