  • Great for stain and Lacquer coating.
Excellent for stain and Lacquer coating. Great for indoor Stain and Lacquer. I tried to use an outdoor stain which a much thicker, yet still thinner than paint. And it didn't do so well. It was clogged within a minute. Haven't used it for paint and never would because I refuse to put paint on wood. But I can't imagine it doing so well. ... show more

  • Surges and Sags for me
I do a lot of painting, but I'm not a pro, so maybe don't put much weight in my opinion on this one. I own 4 of these lower priced HVLP designs for the smaller jobs like doors, a grayco 360, and a big airless sprayer for the big jobs. I only spray latex and its usually SW Emerald since that flows well enough to level out the spit most of these lower priced HVLP produce for a mist. Temperature and humidity also have a big effect upon how the finished surface turns out. For a good finish, the paint needs time to level and melt together. The paint usually has more time to do that in cool, damper weather with no direct sunlight. I'm in Michigan, we have a lot of those days here. This sprayer has lots of power and it seems like it should work well, but I could not get as good of a finish with this as I could one of the other cheap HVLPs. I might have given up too quickly but I was getting paint surges and sags and a very coarse spit from the sprayer. The heat from the sprayer compressing all that air so close to the venturi seemed to be drying the spit before it even hit the piece. I'm in Michigan, so it's not like paint should be drying that quickly here. My quick analysis of my issues was due to the mechanism this machine (and many others) use to meter makeup air into the paint bottle to replace the paint that is leaving. The exiting paint creates a vacuum in the paint bottle which this design alleviates with slits in the top foam seal of said bottle. Slits don't really give you a very precise control of a process. I believe the slit mechanism was creating a cycle of surges and sags with my SW latex paint. At that point I gave up on this machine and went back to another low cost unit where the turbine was housed a few feet away in its own box. That at least gives the hot air from the turbine a little bit of time to drop some heat before it hits the venturi. I'm not an expert on any of this stuff; this is just my quick analysis. I could be completely wrong. I did not try to spray anything thinner than latex. It might work much better on thinner material? It does seem well built. There are also lots of positive reviews on this machine, so maybe it was just me. IDK. ... show more

  • practice & Strain your paint and thin it correctly and keep tip clean alway while using.
Good sprayer if you figure out how to spray you want. Me I've only used the smallest white spray tip. Can't speak for the other sizes. I'm all about not having overspray and leave plenty of paint. I've been using 1/4 of water or little more to get funnel flowing good. I wish the funnel viscosity measuring tool it comes with was half its side with a longer handle. Nobodys got 180 to wait. I don't wait now I see the speed of drainage. I also wish I could make my paint half as thin to spray through the smallest tip. Crank up the volume you crank up the water too. Too heavy it drips it's so thin. There should be notches at bottom of paint jar or something for grip. Also i can't find any replacement paint jars or lids for this brand. The Lid OD is 3 1/4 +/- 1/32. Also never found a video of someone using this NoCry brand yet. Had my first one for about 4 or 5 months ago. And still running fine and bought a 2nd to have 2 paints loaded i recommended this spray at the $35 price refurbished used even. Just practice. I spray mainly the small circle for cabinets it says but I spray walls trim and barely squeeze trigger to right when paint comes out but more air then paint. Cause the firsts 1/4 pull is just Air and useful in a few ways. Cleaning tip while spraying. Blowing cob webs away, and drying the paint you just sprayed. Closer you get to tip the warmer the air gets. (Not for skin just) stuff your painting. Its low pressure but idk what amount it takes to enter you blood stream. Not recommended anyway close to tip. ... show more

  • Awkward. Clumsy.
So I bought this for a big construction trailer reconditioning project. You can NOT use this with one hand. The body does not stay connected to the spray nozzle and paint container. You have to hold them together while painting or the pressure from the body will blow the sprayer off. No matter how hard I put it on it always fell off. The next issue was there wasn't any consistency with the spray pattern. Sometimes it was nice and sometimes it would randomly throw big drops out. Paint was thinned and same consistency as well as being put through a strainer. Next issue was there was always a good 1/8-1/4 inch of material that would never spray from the pickup tube. There also needs to be several more paint containers. 1 is not enough for bigger projects. If you have to switch colors it's a huge pain to do. Took me about 30 min to clean once I was done with 1 color. Had I known all this I probably would have gone with one of the gravity fed guns with more containers. The time savings would pay for the more expensive gun. ... show more
