These bridges are sturdy and bendable. They hold their shape very well. We are using for gerbils but this would be sturdy enough for rats, even chinchillas (but they might be a bit narrow for larger animals). They are easily shapable but also hold their form well. The "logs" butt up against each other, so there is no chance to chew them apart in the middle for smaller rodents. There are 2 metal hooks on each end. We used pliers to easily bend them to a shape that allowed them to be used in our enclosure. With pliers, it was easy to turn the hooks the direction we needed them to go and to open the loops just a bit. The bridges can be bent to pretty severe angles to add challenges or left relatively straight, to span longer gaps. We like being able to change their cage around periodically to prevent boredom and these are great for that purpose. ... show more

It might seem like a lot of money to spend on a bunch of sticks attached together, but it's been very versatile in our hamster enclosure. We have used it as a skyway, a ramp, and currently a wall to divide different substrates for our hamsters to play in. The wood was clean, and free of any evidence of mold, insects, etc. The edges are rounded. You might be able to make one yourself, but by the time you get the right wood, make sure it doesn't have any bad stuff in it, drill two holes per stick and then wire it up .... you probably should have just bought this in the first place. Happy with this purchase, and recommend it for anyone trying a more "natural" style of enclosure for their hamsters. ... show more

This little ladder is rigid enough to support any small pet. Attractive and inexpensive. It will bend like a set of stairs, should you desire. Unfortunately, it was not so great for birds because they rip the bark off the end slats. I wound up removing both ends, closing the wire ends, and making a food bowl enclosure (and my birds absolutely love it!). ... show more

One of the things I absolutely loved about this item was that it would give my hamster more opportunities for exercise without taking up more space in the bottom of her cage. She absolutely loves to climb on this to get to higher ledges inside her cage for activity. I love the hooks that are on the end because you can adjust it to fit so many different areas make it as long as you want or as short as you want. It’s just really a good addition to a cage. It was very cost-effective and that was impressive too. Built well and our little Millie loves it. (It is not stretchy but it’s plenty long to use in a multitude of ways for cages.) ... show more

    • Great for use as a Divider

First off, I generally use glass fish tanks as hamster cages. I dedícate about 1/4 of the tank as a separate area that I first put in the wheel and then dump in about 1-2” of sand, topped off with some smooth stones and a wooden log bridge to get to the fluff (the remainder of the cage. So as far as this long log bridge is concerned, I take off the hooks, bend it in a “U” shape, affix the ends to each side of the glass, and use it as a divider between the sand area and the fluff area. It works really well. I’m having difficulty uploading pictures otherwise I’d show how cool it looks and how well it works at keeping sand out of the fluff area. ... show more

The hooks are installed in a way that they couldn’t be turned to the side. And they came facing the wrong sides… VERY sturdy though. High quality materials and manufacturing. Just incorrectly manufactured.
