  • Nice mental exercise, but...
Style: Level 3 (Advanced) Color: Dog Twister
I have 3 dogs in my house that I think encompass the range of play that this toy brings. The husky is a five-year-old dog who used this toy exactly like you expected. Once we showed him the sliding pieces and how the locks worked he fully enjoyed and worked the toy as intended. One-year-old Aussie pup who was not - I'm going to say compatible - with this toy. We did the same instructions as with the husky, but other than the 'freebie' he only opened one other. He ended up just sitting next to it and guarding it against the other dogs. We tried only locking every other lock. We tried unlocking every single one - he still didn't 'get' it. The odd thing about this though, is we have harder mental toys than this one and he can complete those. A lot more slots with a lot more 'must do x,y,z to get 1,2,3' which I found interesting. The last is our 7-year-old Aussie. This one...this one we nicknamed Hulk because he just brute forces everything. He starts by scratching the top of the toy to force open everything. He then will take a white lock in his mouth and pick it up so it is hanging vertically. This is where he worked the system. If he dangles it right - where the teal pieces pull away from the frame - the treats just fall out and he eats his fill. The flaw of this toy is, locked or unlocked, if you tip it on its side right (or completely flip it over) the treats just tumble right out. Even with his hardcore scratching across the top - the plastic has held its shape. There are no tooth marks on the white locks. We had one of the white pieces get pulled out but was easy to install. I don't know about the teal pieces if they pop off; although this company is pretty good at making it easy to reassemble if your pet is a destroyer. I do recommend this toy - if your dog isn't one to pick it up and chuck it around. The older Aussie is not a 'thrasher' either so I can't really use that as a precursor of compatibility. The pictures show the dog's workaround and the variety of mental toys we have for our pack. ... show more

  • Keeps my ADD dog entertained
Style: Level 2 (Intermediate) Color: Dog Brick
If your dog is small breed and food motivated like my Shi-Tzu, this is a great buy. For bigger dogs, this toy might be too small. For my Shi-Tzu, it's perfect for her small mouth and paws. The puzzle also it's a bit bigger than expected. The reason I purchased this was because my dog was acting scared a week after fireworks, and I was looking for a way to distract her. The things that I liked about this toy, was that it keeps her entertained for about 7-10 min, which is not bad. You can arrange the puzzle in other ways to avoid repetitiveness. The product price is not bad and the quality too, plastic corners are mostly rounded, with no cutting sharp edges, which is safer than other plastic toys, since your dog will be poking around with their nose. Also the fact that you can freeze your treats inside the plastic pieces if you wanted to is an nice extra feature. I like the tiny holes in each piece to let dogs sniff the treats inside. The plastic lids are very easy to open for dogs and to slide as well. The holes in the floor to hide treats under the pieces aren't too deep or difficult to get to. I would only say to be careful to not leave the toy alone, the white removable pieces might be a choking hazard. The first thing my dog did was to run away with the bone piece in her mouth, not understanding that it was part of the puzzle. As long as you put it above ground after playing with it, your dog will be fine. Only if your dog were to take the plastic piece, and chew on it for an hour, the piece could become sharp. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, mostly because it was cheap, and kept my dog entertained for a while, compared to the other puzzles. I'm satisfied. ... show more

  • Good but not sure yet
Style: Level 3 (Advanced) Color: Dog Twister
I purchased 2 different toys by this brand for our 8 month old Australian shepherd puppy. We bought the level 2 slide and hide fish tail game and level 3 doggy twister. The slide and glide is way too easy for her. She figured it out in 2 seconds and has all the treats eaten in a minute. So I tried the twister and she can’t figure that out. I think it’s hard for her to unlock it so I unlocked all the handles and she was able to slide the pieces very quickly to get the treats. The handles just seem pretty hard to unlock, especially for a dog. But I’ll keep trying and see what happens. I’ll definitely try other toys out by this company because they are well made I just need to find the right one for our dog. ... show more

  • Simple But Super Fun
Style: Level 1 (Easy) Color: Dog Smart Composite (Tan)
This was a birthday present for my tripawd. They need mental stimulation because they don't have the physical ability to run and play as much as a 4-legger. It has provided endless enjoyment for him. Well - it ends when the treats run out - lol. Be prepared for lots of drool, lots of spit, and if your dog is really smart (I have a GSD/ Blackmouth Cur mix) then you are going to need to refill, so don't overload it and this will prevent over-snacking (obesity and diabetes are real problems for dogs as a result of poor owner habits) while still giving the benefit of mental exercise. I love it and will be looking for more in the near future. ... show more

  • Schnauzer approved
Style: Level 2 (Intermediate) Color: Dog Brick
My dog loves this puzzle. She already figured out how everything worked after the first go and I like how it can be switched up by concealing the treat in different areas so it's not the same pattern everytime. The plastic feels sturdy and thick enough to withstand some abuse. I wouldn't recommend this for a larger dog because of the size. All the compartments are designed with smaller dogs in mind. Everything slides nicely making it easy for my schnauzer to explore. The only setback this has is that the lids come off easily and there's always two or three that have come off while in use. They're not small enough for my dogs to choke on but something like a Golden Retriever or German Shepherd could swallow something like that with ease. Aside from that I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more
