  • Narrow Field Of View, shallow Depth of Field
Very narrow Field of view, maybe 10ft at 20 yards. Pretty useless scanning for anything across a field, you'll loose track of where it is. Forget about mounting these on a helmet for walking, can't see your feet at minimum zoom! The focus is very shallow, so things in front of or behind whatever you are focused on get blurry fast. Might be useful for watching a small area around a feeder, but useless besides that. Kind of a shame too because the night vision is pretty powerful. Red illuminator is very bright though, easy for the animal/other team to see. Pass, not much more than a toy due to the narrow focus lenses. ... show more

  • Solid feeling in holding and handling, Easy in using and enjoying
Got it today (one day ahead of previously scheduled!) and can not wait to play with it. Nicely built with solid quality feeling in holding and using. Easy to start with clear and brief instruction. View in dark backyard in the night surprisedly clear and interesting! Easy to operate will be the key when using in the wild open place especially in the dark. Very glad for the selection and purchase so far. Will play and use more to gain more experiences. ... show more

  • It's an amazing product
The media could not be loaded. I had fun in my yard using the camera and the video recorder. It appears to show light in the video, I had to look up to see if my camera lights were on, but they were not. It is an amazing product. Anyone that camps, hunts, or are just an outdoor enthusiast, these night vision goggles are for you. Took one photo in the house. ... show more

  • Update……pass pass pass
Heavy and feel very well made except for the cheap buttons which will become issue over time as they de-laminate. However unfortunately the night vision and overall field of view is very lacking. Also, does not have rechargeable batteries as claimed instead requires 8 AA batteries which after less than an hour of use still show full charge but screen and IR shows massive decrease in performance (like looking through a small green cone vs full screen when batteries were new) making the field of vision almost useless sub 50 yards. The field of view is narrow given the overall size of the unit and the night vision is simply not clear even at ranges up to 100'. The IR is rather strong reaching large distances but the quality (or lack of) of the lens makes even near objects appear grainy and out of focus. Much better units at this price point or even cheaper. ... show more

  • Generally very good.
I will start by saying that for daytime use you will be better off with traditional binoculars. Compared to regular binoculars these are not as clear or bright, and are heavy. The weight combined with you you hold them away from your face makes them much less steady, at least for me. The built in camera for stills and video is a plus not found on regular binoculars. During the day you are supposed to put the lens cap with a small IR filter in the middle over the objective lens. The small hole reduces definition, but again, you are better off with regular binoculars during the day. These appear to have two lenses, much like regular binoculars, but it actually has only one -- the left one --. The right one is the IR emitter. Both are focus able with a twist ring on the barrel. I am not sure why you would need to focus the IR emitter, though. These do not seem to use any light amplification technology. To see in the dark you need to turn on the IR emitter. It is powerful, and illuminates out to several hundred meters. Note: IR has a different focal point than visible light, so when you switch to IR you will have to refocus. A downside of relying completely on the IR emitter is that if there are objects closer to you than the object you are trying to see, they will be VERY bright. It can be distracting. I have figured out the controls, which took a while. The book is not very useful. I have not figured out how to set the time and date, which are displayed on the screen. The case is sturdy, fitted, and very nice. Both the case and binoculars have a place to attach straps, but only one strap is included. You will want to get a more comfortable strap anyway, since the narrow nonpadded one supplied isn't very comfortable. You will also need to supply 8 AA batteries. BTW, inserting the barreries into the bottom positions is very hard to do. All in all, they are good at the price point and very good for night IR observations. ... show more
