The light has built in timer. It will ramp up and down 15 min before light comes on or goes off. The light is bright enough. It has white, red, and blue leds. The one complaint I have is the display on timer. Some of the parts of numbers didn't light up. So it was a little bit problem setting timer. It worked fine after it was set. I hope it last awhile. These lights are exactly what I'd been looking for growing out my Acan frags. I bought two to start and couldn't be happier! The price was right, set up simple, they're light weight, well built, and there's no need to hang them. These rest perfectly across the top of the glass covered 40 gallon breeders I use for frags, they generate very little heat, and there's no ballast to deal with. Right now the growth we're seeing is quite promising, corals seem to love this spectrum, they look amazing under it. If these Nicrews continue performing like this over time I'll definitely be buying more. ... show more

The transparent plastic piece arrived somewhat broken - bodes poorly for long-term quality. The packaging was fine, so it's clearly something that happened before shipping. The lights did work, I think the light intensity was reasonable for the price. The timer programming is sort of complicated, and doesn't seem to exactly follow the instructions - but not really a problem. ... show more

There is a lot to like about this light bar. Its much brighter that the fluorescent tube fixture I was using for sure. The ramp up, daylight, moonlight timer is a great addition for the cost. I have 2 48" on a 75 gallon with a glass top (don't have to worry about the waterproof rating so much) for mixed fish/corals and they seem to be fine and growing well with it at less than half the cost of premium reef lights. I have a maxima clam coming and will update the review to include its reaction to the lights. It would be nice however to have control over brightness in daylight and moonlight timer modes. This may not be for the overly serious reef tank owner with delicate corals but for the basic saltwater tank owner it seems to do great. ... show more

The light I received is used. It has salt water spots on the cover. I contacted the seller and they said that is impossible.. really… it must be possible because it is a used item.. I needed it so bad I was willing to over look that.. but I can’t get the timer to set. I purchased this for my salt water aquarium as a reef light. I purchased it because it had the timer included. It is ridiculous to set. Not at all user friendly. I watched a video on YouTube and I still can’t get it to work. I set it just like the video said and I’m still walking into another room the change the lighting from day to night myself. Not only that, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to change the light strength. It is the biggest waist of money. You can spend just $50 more dollars and get one of the best lights available. I’m planning to return this because it just isn’t worth the pain in the butt that it has caused. Update.. 4/20/22 Don’t waist your money. This light is terrible. I was going to return it and just realized I only had 30 days and I missed the window to return. It isn’t strong enough to grow corals. So if you are planning to stock you salt water aquarium with corals this light isn’t the one. The par meter reads less than 60 when the light is set on 100%. ... show more
