  • Small, Quiet, Yet Surprisingly powerful
Size: Magi 200: 5 - 10 gal
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased the filter for my 10-gallon aquarium, and after a few weeks of use, I feel compelled to share my thoughts on this compact device. As someone who values both functionality and tranquility in my fishkeeping experience, I've found this filter to be a mixed bag of brilliance and overpowering performance. **Pros:** 1. **Compact Design**: The size of this filter is truly noteworthy. It fits seamlessly behind my aquarium decor, allowing for unobstructed views of my aquatic inhabitants. 2. **Whisper-Quiet Operation**: One of the standout features of this filter is its near-silent operation. I often forget it’s even running, which is fantastic since it’s in my main living room. However, if the bubblers cap is removed It will make noises so I wouldn’t recommend doing that. 3. **Easy Installation and Maintenance**: Setting up the filter was a breeze. The instructions were clear, and it took no time to have it up and running. Cleaning and changing the filter is straightforward, which is essential for someone with a busy schedule. **Cons:** 1. **Too Powerful for Small Tanks**: While the filter’s strength may be beneficial for larger aquariums, I found it to be a bit too powerful for anything under a 10-gallon setup. The water flow is strong enough that it creates a significant current, which can be distressing for smaller fish and plants. I've had to adjust the outflow angle to try to minimize the turbulence, but it still feels excessive in some parts of the tank. 2. **Limited Flow Control**: I wish there were a more effective way to regulate the flow rate. The filter operates at one speed, which can be overwhelming in a small tank that needs gentler filtration. Overall, the filter is a fantastic choice for those who need a small and quiet filtration solution, but potential buyers should be mindful of its potency. If you're using it in a larger aquarium or are keeping more robust species that can handle higher flow, this filter might be a perfect fit. For those with delicate fish or plants, I recommend considering whether the strong current can be adequately mitigated before making this purchase. Despite its power, I’m still pleased with my overall experience and will be keeping it in my setup for now. ... show more

  • Great little filter
Size: Magi mini: 2 - 5 gal
The media could not be loaded. I'm actually pretty surprised by this little filter. I got the one for 2 to 5 Gallon, 40 GPH, 3.5W and inhabe it in a 4 1/2 gallon bowl for my Betta. It works well and keeps the water very clear. It's pretty strong, see my video 🤣 but he seems to like it. I unplug it at night for him just in case. Super easy to install and it's pretty small and doesn't take up much space which is awesome. It sticks to the side well with the little suction cups and even on my curved bowl it holds on well. My ONLY complaint is it said one of the stages of filtration was carbon but I put driftwood in my tank and it's not removing the tannins so I'm honestly not sure if it's actually carbon in there. I took it apart and there is a little bahgy of something along with a spong but not sure. It's definitely not removing tannins I'm having to do water changes until they stop releasing. ... show more

  • Powerful, too powerful
Size: Magi 700: 20 - 40 gal
Bought this thinking it would be great for my 30 gallon, heavily planted, Betta tank. Nope, it’s too powerful for the lil guy so I had to remove it. This filter works as advertised and is a great wave maker too, just not for a betta tank but that’s my fault and I am not going to knock down stars for that. One thing I didn’t like was how the filter was covered in charcoal dust when it came out of the package so give it a quick rinse when you unbox it. Otherwise, this might work great for a large reef tank or any tank that has fish with high flowing water. Again: User error on my part, only knocking down 1 star because it was oddly covered in so much charcoal that by the time I finished assembling it my hands looked like that of a mechanic’s. ... show more

  • Frustrating
Size: Magi 380: 10 - 20 gal
Update: I gave up on this. It gets clogged up so easily, I was having to clean it every day or it would stop working right. I've got 8 tanks, I'm not inexperienced but I struggled to make this filter work correctly. I went back to a sponge filter and my tank is so clear now! I should have kept it running instead of this filter. ________ I've never had so much trouble with a filter before. I was using an internal sponge filter and switched to this filter because the tank is in my bedroom and the bubbling was annoying. The pieces aren't great. I wanted an elbow piece to attach to the spray bar so the spray bar was vertical with the filter but the pieces don't fit together to make this. *Edit: if you use enough elbow pieces you can do this but the spray bar is very long I keep having to clean this filter out, things keep getting stuck to the slits on the side where it pulls in water. You would think that's a good thing but it blocks the filter and then the air tube and regulator stops working and doesn't produce bubbles anymore. If you have the air tube and regulator on it helps to turn the tubing inlet so it is horizontal, it seems to keep the water from going into the tubing, th water stops air from coming out when this happens. It's also very loud. I don't know if it's the regulator that is bad or what but the bubbles are really fine and they crackle as they come out. You can close the regulator almost all the way and it is still loud, sometimes it sends the air out in short loud bursts. Ramshorn snails keep getting stuck in the part of the filter where different arts connect, they are getting their bodies stuck in crevices then they can't get back out and they die. I learned this the hard way when I went to pull one off the filter and I pulled it's insides out of its shell. As of right now I definitely wouldn't recommend this filter ... show more
