  • It won't fit a 2008 Yamaha R6S without some tinkering.
It came on time. I used this to replace the OEM starter on my 2008 Yamaha R6S. Unfortunately, the casing or housing with the O ring was too large however, I was able to switch the casing on just that end. If you opt or this "rebuild" or make sure that you clean your old housing head thoroughly (I did use the new O ring), and when you do merge it with the new one don't tighten the bolts too tight the gears wont spin. Just test it as you tighten. If it still can be turned with your hand, you're good; if not, loosen the bolt a bit and try again. Once i completed this modification, the new starter slid right in place, without issues. The bike has started just fine since then. If you're feeling a bit apprehensive, there are YouTube videos for rebuilding a starter for motorcycles. Remember, you're just cleaning and switching out the housing that goes over the gear head that slides into the motor. This is more pricey than just ordering a rebuild kit but, less expensive than ordering an OEM from your local parts supplier I was quoted around $200 for the part. ... show more
