This "NICE-POWER Wire Cutters, 5 Inch Professional Pliers Cutter Electronic Flush Wire Cutter Carbon Steel Cutting Nippers for Electrical Jewelry making(Blue) (Blue ( 1 Pack ))" is a good buy, so many usages, I used them to cut wires, zip-tiles, ropes, metals, etc... this is super handy, and found myself grapping it frequently. The quality and finish isn't the best, but it is cheap. I think as long as it works well, I think I am ok with the rough finish. Afterall, it is "just a tool". It is sharp and it feels ok durable. I think as long as you don't use it to cut the "hardest" stuffs and chip it, it should last a while. Every crafter or DIY'er needs tools like these, side cutters, flush cutters, nippers, whatever you want to call them. They are good for lots more than wire. As long as you don't try to cut hardened or steel wire they will do OK. The handles are longer than many similar priced models but the jaws don't open as far. I mostly use 20 - 28 gauge wire and have no issues Of course you don't get top quality for $7 you are buying a consumable. ... show more

These are nicely made cutters intended for zip ties, electronic component leads, and thin copper, aluminum and other relatively soft wires (not steel). The cutting edges appear finely ground and work nicely when tested on zip ties, individual 22 gauge cat 6 wires, and an entire cat 6 cable minus the other sheath. However there is the tiniest bit of wiggle perceptible in the pivot when fully closed. It is too little to capture on video and is almost unnoticeable. ... show more

As an audio/visual tech I use side cutters for trimming zip ties quite often. I keep a pair at work and I wanted a pair for my home. These are nice and sharp with decent handles. The handles are a little slippery, but that will probably improve in time. I tested them trimming some zip ties and they are nice and sharp. I was able to cut a zip tie flush so it doesn't scratch a person's finger. They also work good triming the wires after soldering a component into a circuit board. The tip is very sharp, I wish a cover was included so that it could be carried in my bag without poking through the bag or jabbing me. ... show more

At $8 these are about half the price as name brands big box retailers and half the quality. They do cut copper wire up to 12 gauge and other softer wire, I've not tried on spring steel yet because I do not believe they can handle material that hard. Flush cutters are great for precision cutting of soft materials (zip ties, electrical wire, clipping off component leads and solder blobs on circuit boards. These are super sharp and cut very nicely. DO NOT cut steel or other hard wire with these unless you want to mess up the cutting surface. These perform as expected and are a handy thing to have in any toolbox. ... show more
