I like this cable a lot. The weave of the cover is a little rough but it feels like it will resist wear pretty well so I'll happily take that trade off. The spring to prevent bending the cable too far at the connector is also nice. Snaps securely into my headphones. Cable looks good too. Will update if it doesn't hold up. ... show more

I am very happy with this cable, it is much better than the stock cable on my ATH-M50X and HD-599 headphones. I went with the 1.2 meter/4 foot cable, which IMO is the ideal length if you're planning on keeping your phone in your pocket while using a pair of headphones, and should work well with a lot of desktop setups. The jack on this is high quality, it's metal, and comes with a screw-on 1/4" jack adapter. I was worried the jack would be too bulky (based on the photos) but it's not, and it works on my phone, even though I have a case on my phone. The jack that goes into the headphones is also metal. I've only gotten this cable today, so I cannot say definitively that it is more durable than the stock cables, however my first impression is that it will last longer. There is a spring mechanism around the cable before it enters the jack, which should prevent the cable from being kinked at a right angle, and I think will add to the durability. Got the ATH headphones at a thrift shop but it didn't come with a cable. This works absolutely fantastic and the audio quality of the headphones is awesome. Definitely worth the buy.

I bought this cable looking to save a few bucks over buying a new official replacement cable. I also liked the idea of a braided cable because they are usually better/less prone to kinks. Boy, was I wrong. This thing kinked like crazy and was overall super annoying to deal with. I would need to unplug it from my headphones just to unwind it. I don't take these headphones anywhere, they are just plugged in at my desk. I wasn't going to go through the hassle of returning them and buying the official cables at this point. They may have been annoying but at least they worked. That was until Feb 22nd. My left ear started cutting out. I just started using this cable when it was delivered Dec 18th. I would have to wiggle the wire to get the left ear to stay on. They barely lasted 2 months! It was actually so bad that I used a different pair of headphones for a day while I waited for another replacement cable to come in. This time I ordered the official Audio Technica replacement cable. It was $10-20 more than this cable but my original pair lasted years before they all broke. I waited until they came in and I used them for a while to confirm that this 3rd party cable was broken. I'm out of the return window now so there is $18 bucks down the drain. Just spend the couple extra dollars and get the official replacements. ... show more

Ordered this for a set of ATH-M40x headphones I picked up almost two years ago. The cables that come with the headphones are nice, but too long for my general application. I hesitated on this one since at least one review said it didn't fit their headphones (they might have had the ATH-M50x's, but it's the same connector and cable). Got it today and when I went to insert the cable into the headphones, it felt like it was not going to go. Compared it to one of the OEM cables and noticed that the molded channel that the index pins of the headphones slide into seemed slightly more narrow than the OEM cable. Looking inside the port on the headphones, it's clear that the two indexing pins are 180 degrees from each other (and inline with the white marking line on the outside of the port). I held the cable with the channels lined up, gave a firm push and finally felt it seat, then gave the short turn clockwise to lock it in. This definitely will not accidentally disengage! I also noticed it is a TRRS style connector. I plugged the headphones into a set of Edifier MR4 speakers and the headphone jack of a 2014 MacBook Pro and had no audio issues with either. The former is a female TRS jack and the latter, a female TRRS jack. The things I mention here should be visible in the photos I uploaded. Hope it helps someone else who might be on the fence. And the "red" that's in the cable is far more subdued that I thought it might be based on a couple of reviews. It's there, but not distracting at all, at least to me. :) ... show more
