I bought this to replace a standard tank water heater, I live in a smaller townhouse and I don't need a lot of capacity. It went in well, was easy to run the exhaust pipe through the existing heater vent. You'll probably have to buy the additional water polisher and the condensate neutralizing capsule, so it will be a little more expensive after everything is put together. Also, you may need to get into the BIOS and change the flow rate if you have a high efficiency washing machine. Mine did not draw enough hot water under the default settings to turn the heater on, but it's easy to change that, it's in the instruction manual. ... show more

There is nothing to dislike about this water heater. I absolutely love it. The water gets hot almost immediately. Now I don't have to pay for the propane to heat water. I would have purchased this years ago, but never new it existed. The plumbers discouraged me about buying it. They wanted to sell me their tanks. When I found a plumber to install it, they did a great job. This Rinnai looks great on the wall, and now have more space in my basement. It cost more than a tank, but it is worth every dollar I paid for it including the installation fee. ... show more

Installed easily. Seem to use less natural gas than the old tanked water heater; and with an endless supply of Hot water. Set at 115 deg F and not mixing much cold water into the shower water.

I bought the Rinnai RX199iN as a diy-er to replace my broken water heater. The packaging of the product is excellent, The instructions are clear and will explained with lots of images to re-enforce installation methods. the connections are clearly mark which made the installation quick for a non professional. Things to know: It needs a power outlet near by. 3/4 gas line preferred This is a condensing unit, and it condenses a lot a water so be prepared to run a hose to a drain or a sink. Set up is difficult from the main panel easier from the app. The Rinnai APP, is divided into sections Owner and installer, and both have to have separate accounts, for some odd reason Rinnai made the installer version of the app a lot easier to use than the owner app. Once you register the product go back to the installer version to do any necessary temperature adjustments. The unit is not as quiet as a tank water heater as it does have some vibration and you can hear it when installed on 2X4 framing.but not a deal breaker. ... show more
