Learned this the hard way: To insert the tool, find whichever end of the siding run has a notch cut in its bottom lip. If neither end has a notch, then you'll need all your strength to wiggle it upward into the joint.

I used this to take off some vinyl siding on a 1991 house. I was adapting a plastic box into a wall. The tool easily separated the interlocking pieces of vinyl, a job I had never attempted before. The tool does leave some slight gray scrape marks on the white vinyl. But I found those marks were easily removed with a pencil eraser. ... show more

Used it to remove some vinyl siding in the middle so I wouldn’t have to take all the siding off from the top down. Worked very well.

    • Doesn’t work on my siding.
The hook on this is too narrow to reach the edge of my siding piece at any angle. The hook needs to be a bit wider (the gap where it the metal bends back on itself) and a bit longer. I got a small piece of siding off with a screwdriver, then looked at this and the next attached piece from the side to see exactly why this wasn’t working. Even when watching exactly where the tool was relative to the siding piece, there is no physical way for this hook to catch the edge of my siding until the siding is already loose from the lower piece. I notice the reviews are very binary… it either works or it doesn’t for any individual. I have come to the conclusion that some siding is different in shape that some others. If it fits your siding, it will work. If it doesn’t, you’re simply not going to get it to work no matter what. I’ll give it this, though. It really is sturdy. I tried to open the gap on this with some hand tools and it wouldn’t budge. If it does fit your siding, it will probably last your entire life. ... show more

The graphic instructions on the package were of little help. Watch a YouTube video for instructions. The tool works great for removing and adjoining vinyl siding.

    • Maybe I'm using it wrong??
I hate this tool! I tried removing a bunch of vinyl on my garage to install a door and this tool is such a pain to use. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but the tool would catch the vinyl and get caught in it and not glide under the vinyl. Real pain in the butt. It seems like a lot of other people have the same issue but others like it. Oh well, the job is done with no help from this tool. I don't recommend it. ... show more
