I couldn't wait to return this soundbar. Like so many others, I wanted an upgrade from my old Yamaha soundbar to an offering w/ Dolby Atmos, and debated between the Bose 900 and the Sonos Arc. I already have 5 other Sonos speakers so one would think the Arc was a no-brainer, but as a monstrosity of a speaker in size, the Arc would have required me to revamp my entire TV setup to fit on my stand. The Bose was so sleek and the size was perfect for my current setup placed between the stock TV "chicken legs" without blocking the bottom of the TV. Since I wasn't planning to use the TV soundbar for a whole room music speaker effect, I went with the Bose. BIG MISTAKE!!! The Bose app was basic but even worse, very glitchy. I had to go thru the calibration process 4 times because the 1st three times the app froze up on me. Then, once it finally accepted my settings, it lost them, so I was forced to do it yet another time. Dialogue mode kept turning off at random times. The soundbar's volume functions would not stay programmed to my Chromecast remote, something my old Yamaha soundbar never failed to do. You couldn't tell when the bar was on or off, and could barely tell if/when it was picking up volume key signals. Admittedly, the overall sound clarity and quality was better than my Yamaha, which was less than a third of the price of the Bose, but for the price difference, I expected that to be the case at a minimum. It did not improve the quality of my listening experience enough to justify the price difference and glitchy performance. My husband loves old-school Bose speakers so the bar was set high (so to speak), but this speaker simply did not deliver. Not as important to me but still annoying is Bose's lack of integrated music streaming services such as YouTube Music (which is what we subscribe to) and Google Music. Back in the box it goes to be returned. My Arc is on backorder but I am willing to wait AND revamp my TV setup to make room for it. The Bose was a good fit in size, but that's the only positive I have to say about it. One disappointing star. ... show more

I went to a store to check out the Bose Smart Soundbar 700 and was impressed with the look and of course the sound. The 700 was out of stock so I went on amazon and I found out the 900 was releasing on 9/23 and ordered it right away. Now that I have it, I can say without a doubt it was worth the price. The device looks sleek, it was easy to setup. There was an update that even with a fast internet connection, took 20-25 minutes (I have 1 GB Download speeds that are around 450 MB over wireless) and that was really my only hiccup. After the update and calibrating the room, the soundbar worked flawlessly. I saw a review that mentioned no youtube music but the soundbar supports bluetooth from your phone so you can just play youtube music that way but it supports the best music option which is Spotify so it shouldn't be a deterrent. Now I just need to buy the sub :) ... show more

Received the product, have a Bose 700 soundbar and have been super excited all along. Plugged the device, after initial update, the device started fine. After about an hour, switched off and later when switched on after couple of minutes, the Soundbar refused to work. The white light on the soundbar kept blinking and the device would not respond to any command. Called the Bose tech who after initial diagnosis provided instructions to put the soundbar on recovery mode. Kept around 2 Hrs on the phone with no luck, the soundbar would refuse to work. Very frustrating and disappointing!!! It definitely feels like an unfinished product and seems like Bose needs some time to stabilize and iron out the initial release issues. I understand that it might be a defective piece and can happen to any new product but still, it has shook my trust on this at least for now. Initiated the return. For now would not touch this even with a 1000 foot pole, will content with my Bose 700 soundbar for now. ... show more

I researched soundbars on youtube and written reviews on just about every site I could find on all soundbars. Hours upon hours. Everything kept leading me back to the Bose 900. I was a little hesitant with reviews that mentioned how hard it was to set up and the app not working well. I'll just say I had zero issues with any of this. From taking it out of the box and setting it up , everything went seamlessly. Now maybe I got really lucky, but again, zero issues. As far as the sound, it is exactly what I was wanting and more. I was concerned about my ceiling height which is angled and 12ft high at the highest point. I'll just say watching Dune exceeded my expectations. I heard sounds all the way around me. Maybe Im also lucky with my room set up, but it performed better than i expected. I am using the soundbar by itself with no additional sub or surround speakers. The soundbar gives me more than enough bass and as far as surround im more than impressed. The dialogue is exactly what i wanted, etc. I highly recommend the calibration from the get go. I never bothered with the standard settings and just did the calibration from the start. All in all this thing met all the requirements. I may get the Bose 700 surround as extra enhancement, but I still feel its not fully needed. The Bose 900 does it all in my case. One other thing is that some content might not sound the same, which is normal for any set up, but adjusting the settings from the app couldnt be anymore easier and i dont feel its a complaint. I guess if taking a minute to adjust a movie bothers you, well then so be it ... show more
