I am very excited about our new Birdfy Bamboo Feeder. We have had an older Birdfy feeder for about a year and have enjoyed watching the local birds come and enjoy it, while being able to get the different birds identified within the app. My daughter particularly loves when they do something silly and loves scrolling and looking for fun videos. The bamboo feeder is big, sturdy and much better looking. I like the fact that it has 2 separate seed bins, if you want to separate your seeds. There seems to be a lot more room for seeds and thus far, the video quality seems great. I am also excited to have solar for this feeder. The old one would run out of battery and just sit idle for weeks before I noticed it. And where I placed it, it wasn't easy to run a power cable to recharge it. Maybe there was a way to get a warning notification in the app, but I never found it (nor did I look very hard). But with solar, this should no longer be a problem. A few minor negatives to be aware of - since this is so big, it's also a bit heavier than the old one, and thus requires a bit more planning for mounting it. It comes with lots of mounting equipment, so that's great. But the obvious place for me to mount it was right on a squirrel super-highway, and they had a field day last time I did that. So I had to be a bit more creative this time. I had a few problems getting it set up initially, but once I allowed the app to access my location, it went smoothly. The updated app is more intuitive than before. But be aware that this will only work on 2.4GHz wifi networks. I noted that other reviews mention the quality and how it seems to fall apart once exposed to the elements. I am surprised about that, as it feels like good materials and seems to be already stained to reduce weathering. I will monitor that and update this if it seems to be a problem. ... show more

This is my second Netvue bird feeder and like the first, it was very easy to set up. It comes pretty much assembled in the box. The only thing you have to do before using it is charge the camera for a few hours. Once done, you simply drop the camera inside, get the app, connect to WiFi, and that's pretty much it. The bird feeder looks sleek with two-tone brown wood, nice sharp edges, and plenty of space for seed. It's also a nice size...bigger than we thought it would be. The camera works very well and we've gotten some great pictures/videos of the birds. Squirrels? Yes...sadly we can't avoid that. We accept the fact they are part of life with a bird feeder. The app is great and they've done a lot of work making it user-friendly. It's fun to see what others have "seen" with their feeders as well (in the app). The solar-powered charger is a game changer. You don't have to worry about ever charging your feeder again. We had a solar charger for our first Netvue bird feeder (with the blue lid) and we never had an issue with it. We expect the same with this charger as well. So far, we haven't had any issues. Overall, a fun bird feeder to see what you can capture on video. The media could not be loaded. As a previous Birdfy owner, I knew the new Bamboo Birdfy bird feeder was going to be a solid upgrade to my previous OG Birdfy feeder. However, I was not expecting the magnitude of awesomeness of this new birdfeeder in comparison. While the original Birdfy has its place, the Bamboo is truly a league in and of its own. When the shipping box arrived, I knew things were going to be different with this model. Here is a breakdown of the items I found to be a significant step up: 1) The Design! This thing look great! 2) The actual material! Get out of here. Having a 100% bamboo construction is very nice in comparison to HDPE plastic. The finish of the bamboo is very nicely urethaned so I think this feeder will last a long time in the elements. 3) The physical size of the feeder is easily twice as tall, wide, and holds approximately 400% more seed in my estimate than my standard Birdfy. 4) The build of this unit is 5/5. It's rock solid and the metal hardware all appear to be brass or a similar alloy. The top lid fits/snaps well to the frame. The landing extension has pre-drilled holes with female bolts receivers that aligned perfectly with the outside bolt holes. This was the only piece needed for assembly, two simple bolts. The rest of the unit was complete assembled and ready to be install on a pole or tree. 5) The instructions that come with the installation hardware are clear and concise. The brackets they provide with the kit have thumb-turns so there is no need for a screwdriver. They provide templates, hardware, and instructions. It all simply works. You should be up and running in 20 minutes. Plan ahead in how you want the feeder to look installed, how far squirrels can jump, and where the sun will be most effective. The rest is just clamping the feeder bracket to the pole. 6) The solar panel is a must! The feeder has been up and running for 5 days at remains at 100%. I don't think the battery will ever actually die until it's simply worn out. I am ordering another solar panel for my other feeder. I thought they would be unsightly or not work well but the completely do. 7) The camera setup up is simple! Scan the QR on the bottom of the camera and the Birdfy app does the rest for you. The setup will use the WiFi that your phone is connected to. I noticed there were two apps that are compatible with the Bamboo feeder - NetVue and Birdfy. My understanding is the Birdfy app leans towards bird watching versus simple camera monitoring etc. I am now using the Birdfy app and it's way nicer for viewing your library of ID birds and videos. 8) Customer support for random questions has been immediate with their chat window on the website. Convenient, helpful, and friendly. This birdfeeder is simply great. I have shown the videos and images to several friends the past couple of days and they all want one. The price of this feeder is elevated relative to a box retailer $50 feeder, but this Bamboo Birdfy is so much cooler, well built, aesthetically pleasing and really feels like value at this price.
