  • Good one gig high-speed cable modem
What I liked is that this was available renewed at an excellent price. I also like that it works quite well. What I don’t like is that in order to connect to it directly from your computer or other device by LAN ethernet cable, you have to unplug it and wait over 30 seconds and plug it back in and turn it on for it to switch over to allow you to use the LAN after disconnecting it from the router. In order to use the router again, you have to unplug it and so on all over again in order to reconnect the router. But it’s a great modem and it works well. I recommend it. Great price, so buy it. ... show more

  • Does not always work out of the box with ISP
Works great! However in order to get it working properly I needed to contact and work through spectrum. They had some issues but we're eventually able to get it working and I can get the full speed of my service. Very few issues with this unit however it does get pretty warm.

  • Critical Errors - solved
I bought this as an upgrade to a low end modem we were using and after installing it in our new home was profoundly disappointed in it's operation. The cable enters the house in our utility room, surrounded on 2 sides by a concrete slab and on top by the HVAC ductwork it is almost the perfect faraday cage. I'm using the Google mesh system with their current router and 4 points, wifi was always sketchy, all of the points had low connections. But the worst of it was I kept loosing the internet connection, probably a dozen times a day the internet would go down, watching anything streaming was an act of patience as we spent almost as much time watching the spiny thing as the show. I eventually found my way to Netgear Genie, the modems setup page, looking at the event log the pages (it stores only 2) were filled with critical errors, usually both pages and probably more were filled up in a days time. Nothing I did seemed to help, I reset the modem, turned everything off, changed the cables and was on the verge of calling Mediacom for help. To help with the wifi I decided to relocate the router to a utility closet about 20 feet away, ran high speed cable and connected it to the modem. Almost ALL of the errors disappeared, in the weeks since I did this I had 4 errors the 1st day and nothing after that and have not lost internet connectivity once. I'm guessing that there is something affecting the modem in close proximity to the wireless router, they were originally about 12" apart, some break in the cable shielding or a component in the modem was being affected. Anyway, if you're seeing downed internet try separating the modem and router as far as you can ( Inverse sq law). After I did this the modem has been operating flawlessly. ... show more

  • Unit is a refurbished model offered at a discount. Shipped on time. It worked!
Needed a cable modem rather than rent one from Xfinity. Their installer was here to run cable and he installed the modem. Set up quickly and was easy to attach primary Wi-Fi.

  • Beware with Xfinity Comcast
I had this modem and used it with Mediacom's gigabit internet with very few problems. Since moving to Xfinity (Comcast) with this device, despite the listing saying its made for Xfinity and the agent who set me up with the gigabit plan saying it is compatible, I've had very unreliable internet connection. Several drops a day. Calling into Comcast the agent now tells me this modem isn't rated to support their gigabit internet and that's likely why I'm experiencing drops, and the modem would support up to their 800mbps plan. I think the modem is good and I had no issues with Mediacom, but Comcast is just the absolute worst ISP in history, so just understand that if you plan to use this with their gigabit plan. ... show more
