I am not an espresso snob but I do enjoy it. I have a cheaper espresso maker that is, candidly, pretty low budget but I don't want to spend a ton of money on a machine I won't use every day. After getting this machine and running it through the initial flushing (super easy process) I grabbed a couple of me ESE pods to see how it performed. I was surprised by how much better (smoother, no bitterness) the brew was from this machine-night and day actually. The first pod I used was the Caffe Borbon Blu which resulted in the machine reaching 10 pounds (on machine's gauge) and the output was a fuller cup than my other machine. The taste was smooth and enjoyable. The second pod was and Illy Classico and there must be some difference in the grind/volume between the two pods as the Illy pulled the full 15 pounds from the machine. Again a smooth cup with no bitterness. The frother is also much better than my other machine but frothing is not something I am very good at so my initial attempt resulted in some well heated and slightly foamy milk but nothing like my dedicated frother. Great for Latte etc. but not for a macchiato-but again that may well by my lack of skill. All in all this is a great machine for the casual espresso drinker who is not willing to spend a load of money on a machine. All the parts feel heavy duty and they are sized correctly, not the smaller lightweight gear from my other machine. ... show more

Being a latin household, we regularly make espressos especially when company comes over. I wanted to upgrade to a more professional type of machine and this has been a nice choice. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it with all the different components, etc. but I followed the instructions and that first cup of coffee came out really nice. The apparatus for frothing the milk seems to be a little low but I adapted. It's not all stainless steel; some parts are just shiny silver plastic and doesn't seem as high quality as others but those others are also more expensive. I am pleased overall. ... show more

So, I'm a coffee drinker and I've owned plenty of coffee makers over the years. I do drink espresso based drinks but haven't made espresso at home except for a dual espresso/coffee machine from 25+ years ago that I had no clue how to use. I'm older now, I've had some experience and knowledge since then. This is my first "real" espresso machine. It comes with everything you need to get started except the water and coffee. I went with a medium roast and used my burr grinder to get a fine grind which seemed to work well. The portafilter has two baskets. One for a single cup and a larger one for two cups. I've only used the single cup so far. I've measured out 14g, 13g and then free poured to see what my results would be (maybe 12g?). The free pour of grinds resulted in easier locking in place of the portafilter, the 14g was almost impossible to install. Results are decent, I don't drink espresso often by itself but not bad. I used the steam/froth wand on lactose free whole milk and it tasted great. I'm seriously not sure though how you're supposed to get more than 100g of milk into the metal pitcher and steam the milk without spilling it since the wand is so low to the counter. Results are ok but seems to take a while to heat up the milk and I end up with 3x the volume with water? Also it's screaming at me and hard to clean afterwards. The tip does unscrew though for cleaning. I like the water tank size, it does last a long time when pulling shots and steaming. I've made 4 or 5 drinks so far maybe more and I'm not quite halfway through the tank. My coffee machine is empty after 2-1/2 days it feels like so this is nice. The switches instead of buttons is a neat aesthetic. Gives it a sort of retro feel vs all the coffee machines I've used lately. Not much in the way of configuration though - auto or manual shots. That's it. I wish I had more people to serve espresso based drinks to but for now its just me. I like it but wish the frothing/steaming were setup a little different so I didn't feel like i was going to spill the milk everything I use it. ... show more

Let's just say that this is one nice Espresso machine! Very well made and compact. But do understand, especially if you have never used one of these machines, that it does take some practice. Read the instructions carefully. That being said, it makes some great coffees! And don't forget to clean the machine. I believe if we take care of this machine, keep it cleaned, that it will last a long time. We are still practicing with it but so far, this has been a very good order!! ... show more

It comes with a startup accessory that include milk measuring cup, and coffee ground tamper tool. Not only is this espresso machine a stylish addition to your kitchen, it also makes two good cups of expresso at a time. The instructions are clear on how to use and clean the machine. The machine does not take up much space on your kitchen counter, the parts are sturdy and has the look and feel of a profession espresso machine. Please note that this machine is set to pour two cups of expresso as pictured in the photo, comes with the option to hold more or less espresso beans, and has an easy-to-use milk foaming wand which comes with a rubber small handle which come with a rubber handle to prevent one from burning themselves. If you do not have expresso cups, you can use a 6 oz teacup as pictured, 30 seconds on auto will fill that size cup. A great option for espresso fans. ... show more
