  • Pretty good camera for the price
I can't believe how cheap decent tiny cameras have gotten. When I saw this listing, I thought for sure it wasn't going to work, or it'd have horrible quality, but no, it works just as advertised. The light is bright enough to easily identify things in dark areas, and between the hook and the magnet, you can retrieve a lot of things that would otherwise be impossible to reach (I used it to retrieve a magnet I dropped inside my wall from a high-up hole a while back). ... show more

  • Image isn't great, but quite usable, especially if just for utility use
> Neoteck Dual-Lens Borescope Snake Inspection Camera with 8+1 Adjustable LED Lights1920P IP67 Waterproof HD BoreScope &5-Meter/16.4FT Semi-Rigid Cable (~$30) The Good: + Tiny camera gives decent image and functionality + Can record video or stills + Side camera is potentially useful + Can attach a hook or magnet to it for retrieval of small objects + Minimum focal distance is in the millimeters, so you can make an ant fill a screen. The Bad: - integrated LEDs are poorly controlled (dial is not consistent, and 95% of the brightness is adjusted at the last 90-100% of the dial) - Camera auto-adjusts gain even when using the LED, so if you want something brighter and turn up the LED, the camera may simply override your wishes and darken it. - Very difficult to minimize shakiness (it's just physics, so I don't count this against the camera), but the creative uses are not as good as using an expensive probe lens. - Requires 3rd-party software installation. This is a pretty cool device, and it has a lot of shortcomings. But it provides a low-cost tool that's typically very expensive, and the potential creativity and usefulness means you can overlook a lot of the deficiencies. Some uses off the top of my head: Mechanical inspection, dental self-exam, lego movie (or macro-shot miniatures), nature observation of small critters, along with a host of illicit uses. ... show more

  • Really nice borescope
I'm actually quite surprised at how nice this borescope is. Downloading the app from the Apple app store was easy. Ignore the 2.5 star rating - almost no one has written any reviews for it. The borescope has a USB-C plug, but hooking it up to my iPhone 14 was trivial with the included Lightning adapter. It "just worked". The cable is long and a good combination of flexible and rigid so that you can explore pipes, etc. There is a little control box near the camera end of the cable where you can adjust the intensity of the LED ring light, take a picture or video, and (with a long press on the button) switch between the main camera and the side camera. I fed the scope down my drain into the water trap, and it didn't seem to have any issue with being submerged. Note that the LEDs do get quite hot, so be careful if you, umm, insert this somewhere they tell you not to. The scope comes with some attachments that screw on the head, including a hook for retrieving things and a magnet. The attached pictures show my bathroom sink drain in the forward and side directions. OMG that's gross. The two photos of the instruction manual show the resolution of the cameras. The whitish picture is using the main camera and the yellowing picture is using the side camera. The resolution is quite good. All in all I'm very impressed with this little device and happy to have it. BTW the app is a little odd to use. You take photos or videos and store them inside the app. Then if you want to, you can move them over to your main photos. You can also create a PDF report from a couple of simple templates, like before and after pictures. But those templates can only read from the phone's main photos, not the app, which is inconvenient. I don't expect to use this to write reports anyway, so I don't really care. ... show more

  • Great borescope. Dual lenses makes it a lot easier to see what you want.
This is the third borescope I've had in the last 10 years and is both the best performing and cheapest one. My other two are standalone units which has pluses and minuses. This one requires an app which I don't really like but I think is an OK compromise. I'm using this on an Android phone so I didn't get to try any of the USB adapters it comes with. The best feature for me is the dual lens and being able to switch between them at a press of the button. The borescope I was using previously only had a single lens and it was often quite a problem to get the scope pointed the right way. I could mount an angled mirror on the end, but this also had multiple problems. Having two lenses is definitely a superior solution. Controlling the brightness with a dial outside of the app is nice too. The app does have some nice features - rotation, black and white vs color mode, and a couple magnification options. The resolution and clarity seemed good, definitely better than my previous borescope. The lights are bright enough in the testing that I did. The only real problem I encountered was that the white balance can get way off sometimes and end up looking very blue. Changing the view of the camera would frequently fix this. Maybe a later update of the software will handle it better. ... show more

  • Good, but I wish the light was better
This is a pretty cool little camera. I used to it see parts of my attic that I have never seen before due to lack of physical access. It does a great job showing things, quite clearly, that are within a few feet of the camera itself. Because the light is so small, it is not good at lighting up a dark cavernous space enough to really see it. It was very easy to set up - just download the app and plug in the camera. The app functioned fine without me granting it any permissions at all, even though it warned me that it would need storage access and one other permission. I did not try to take pictures, I'm sure storage permission would have been required for that, but for live views it is not required. I do wish that the light were brighter. If you aren't using it for such a purpose and are only sending it into quite small spaces, it's a good choice. ... show more

  • Great
This boroscope works very well. The picture is clear and the app is easy to download and use. You can take pictures and video and it will save it in the app. I would recommend this.
