The first thing I noticed is the the packaging clearly show the temperature reading on the digital display at 188 degrees, yet the maximum temperature of the device is only 140. It didn't feel all that warm until I actually took it outside into the cold. Once I was out there with my cold hands, 140 degrees felt great! It does feel solid and really well built and I do like that it has the LED temperature display. It also does come up to max temperature pretty quickly. UPDATE: Nekuya reached out to offer a refund. I'm hoping it's just a fluke with the one I purchased originally. The updated rating is based on the product before it stopped working. It would be 5 stars but when it's really cold out, it can't quite keep up the heat. This was a nice handwarmer (comfortable to hold, sleek, and not too hot). But it stopped working after one month. It won’t charge more than 33% ; when I try to turn on it just flashes ‘low’ and doesn’t heat. A real shame because it was really great. We ordered 4 of these within a week or so of each other. They were great right out of the box! The got hot really fast, and stayed very warm over a 3-4 hour period. We had no complaints. This year, we had a really cold morning where I needed a little warmth until the sun came out. I charged 2 of them up, and headed out. The device itself can be a good addition to your at-work gear, particularly if you work nights, or in open, cold environments. I found that it's performance as a battery bank was rather lackluster. Though I don't have a way to gauge exactly how much power it output to the flashlight I tried to recharge from it, I know that it wasn't nearly enough, compared to the amount of time it was charging. As a hand warmer the device works reasonably well, with the caveat that you cannot simply charge it at the beginning of Winter, drop it in your bag, and expect to pull it out when the night gets truly cold and have a full charge ready to go. Instead you should probably charge it up when you see that inclement weather is coming. That charge will likely hold for a week or two, but it will rapidly drop as further time passes.
