This kit has worked great for me, so far I have done 500 miles of 50 percent on road 50 percent off road riding on my custom build. Be aware that if you are doing a lot of off road riding, and you are regularly drawing the full 80A current on the controller (~5000W), you will have issues with the motor overheating and you will need statorade and hubsinks. With the improved cooling this thing totally rips, has plenty of torque for getting up hills, going in sand, etc. This is pretty much the biggest hub motor that you can put on a normal 135mm dropout bike, and mine only barely clears the brake caliper, so be aware you might need to do a bit of filing to get everthing working, and of course I would recommend installing 2 proper torque arms, one on each side rather than just 1 to avoid ruining your soft aluminum dropouts.     • Update: MORE TRASH THAN I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT.
The media could not be loaded. It would have been nice if they just used the waterproof Juliet connectors. The set up would go way smoother without that yellow block. I opted to use soldering heat shrink to do the connection to the motor from the controller. I just wish they weren't being cheap or they aren't top notch at details, whatever it is I'd suggest finding a company that does have it. Update: so I'm in the middle of actually installing it I realized what another review was talking about. They mentioned filing something and it turned out they needed to file the fork on their bike down because one of the axles is wider than the 135mm measurements listed. Good thing I too own a file so I can make it fit I just want anyone else to be aware of this issue. So in conclusion the flaws are that width of the axle discrepancy and the poor choice in wire components. SECOND UPDATE: THIS THING IS GARBAGE. I ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT IN THE STREET TODAY BECAUSE THE DAMN THROTTLE DECIDED IT WANTED TO CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN I WASNT TWISTING THE THROTTLE AND ACTIVELY BRAKING! I HAD TO POWER IT OFF TO STOP IT. I TOLD A FRIEND WHO WORKS IN BIKES AND HE TOLD ME HIS BUDDY HAD THE SAME CONTROLLER AND PROBLEM. SO CLEARLY IT WASN'T JUST ME. IF ONLY I WERE ABLE TO HOOK UP MY BRAKE CUTOFF SWITCHES TO THE CONTROLLER BUT THESE CHEAP BASTARDS DIDNT PUT THE WATERPROOF CONNECTORS THAT ALLOW ME TO DO THAT. IM DEBATING ON GETTING A COMPLETE REFUND AND DEALING WITH NOT HAVING A MOTOR FOR HOWEVER LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO GET A QUALITY KIT FROM A REPUTABLE SELLER OR SHAMING THESE FOLKS INTO GIVING ME THE CONTROLLER THAY WOULD WORK PROPERLY ON THE MOTOR WHICH SEEMS FINE BTW. THE MOTOR THEY COULDVE SOLD ME SEPARATE AND SPARED EVERYONE THE TROUBLE OF COMPLAINING WHEN THIS ONE EVENTUALLY SCREWS UP. THIRD UPDATE: I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE HALL SENSOR FAILING AND TRIED SWITCHING TO THE BACKUP BUT IT NEVER WORKED. TOOK THE WHEEL APART AND THE BOTH HALL SENSOR SETUPS HAVE A PROBLEM. THE ONE SENSOR SIDE NEVER WORKED FROM THE BEGINNING BECAUSE ONE OF THE SLOTS WAS TOO NARROW AND THE OTHER WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IN A REPLACEMENT WAS TOO LOOSE AND THE SENSORS THEY SENT TO REPLACE MY FIRST ONE BOTH FAILED. IDK IF THEY ARE DAMAGED BUT I WASNT GETTING THE 4.8V READING TO THE LOOSE SLOT. TRIED RUNNING THE HALL TEST ONLY TO GET A FAIL WITHIN A FEW ROTATIONS. SO I CANT TRUST THE MOTOR AND WASTED 36 DOLLARS ON TWO SENSORS TO GET SCREWED UP SOON AS I REINSTALLED THEM. IF SOMEONE GAVE THESE FOLKS A GOOD REVIEW THEY MUST HAVE BEEN LUCKY NOT TO GET THE GARBAGE I GOT. I HOPE THEY ARE READING THIS REVIEW THAT IVE HAD TO UPDATE TWICE AND HAVENT HAD THIS HALF A YEAR. The most noteworthy thing about this purchase is the excellent customer service by the seller, all my questions and concerns were answered quick and professionally! This is my first eBike but over the years I've built many two-stroke motorized bikes and a few four strokes.. but the comparison is night and day. This kit is very well constructed, the wheel and hub are more like a motorcycle then a bicycle wheel. Even though the hub motor is a single speed gear I was able to keep both derailers on the bike and shift through three speeds via the front chain ring. The performance of this kit is unbelievable the acceleration is twice of any two-stroke motorized bike I've built in the past and is very smooth and quiet! I'm very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend this company, you won't be disappointed! ... show more

This is very very hard to put together. I would recommend going to a ebike store and have them put together an 3000 watt ebike and don't buy this item at all. This item took me two months to put together and still I have no idea if it even lasts.

First kit from nbpower. Works good, no serious complaints. Was able to stretch it to 62mph on my 27.5 wheel size kit. Good power for 3000w but I recently upgraded to their 5000w kit gonna see what thats all about.

    • No Instructions , Small Controller Bag. wires are useless , can’t connect. Unnecessary extra wiring.
Oh boy where do i start. This thing was a complete pain to build. First there were no instructions and I couldn’t basically put it together. The small controller bag can’t fit all the wires and it’s jammed in there which is a fire hazard!! The battery wires are a joke! They don’t even connect probably and it doesn’t come with the right wire setup to easily plug into the battery! Very hard to solder and keeps falling out! After a couple painful and excausting hours I finally managed to get it started and it makes a weird grinding and high pitch noise. ... show more

    • This kit is awesome! Exactly what I was looking for
The kit is an excellent fit for someone who wants to have a high top speed and get there fast! Be warned that the controller is 80A continuous so it will pull closer to 5-6,000watts! My 72v19.2ah battery gets very warm when I run the bike hard. But that is my fault for not buying the battery that the seller offered (I got the battery first and should have just paid the shipping to return it to buy theirs) Use the include torque arm and consider getting a second one. It has so much torque I almost spun it out of the dropout when I first installed it (Didnt make sure everything was tight enough) I hit a top speed of 55mph but I am almost certain that is a limitation of my battery. Get the highest quality tires you can find. I have a Schwalbe Super Moto-X on it and even then it is barely up to the task of this beast of a hubmotor! I would definitely recommend this kit to a friend and find the seller to be very easy to work with ... show more
