  • Lovely, playable instruments at a great price
Size: Small
Quite a few reviews claim that these are ornamental and not instruments. Ignore those reviews as it seems to me that they were written by people who simply did not know how they were to be played. For example, one person took a picture of the closed ends of the pipes and said that she nearly blew her brains out trying to blow them open. I give her kudos for her attempt, but that's totally the wrong way to play a panpipe. These are not recorders. You don't blow through the pipe. Instead, you blow over the opening. Think of filling up coke bottles with various amounts of liquid. Then, blow across the openings to get your notes. When I first got it, I couldn't get a sound. I handed it to my husband, who immediately got it going. I realized by watching him that I needed to angle my lips just right and blow at just the right speed (not too soft, but not too hard either). I never did learn to whistle, so perhaps that's why I didn't instinctively figure it out like my husband. In any case, I played through each note, checking for accuracy in the pitch. All sounded right at labeled. (Pitches are labeled with solfege. Note that what is commonly called 'ti' here in the US is called 'si' over there.) ... show more

  • Just like Peter Pans
Size: Small
Perfect for son’s Peter Pan Halloween costume. The reviews that say it does not play are incorrect however there is a steep learning curve and a background playing a musical instrument helps. My husband, a former tuba player, was able to pick up and play right away by holding it at the correct angle and blowing in a particular way. My kids and I could not get it to play at first but we are getting the hang of it after a couple of days. Keep practicing and you’ll get the hang of it! Only complaint is that has a very strong paint/lacquer smell that hopefully wears off with time. ... show more

  • Great sound for what you pay
Size: Small
We are not pan flute players. We just wanted to experiment with a variety of musical instruments as part of our homeschool curriculum this year. Most of my kids and I have figured out how to make nice sounds with this. It is small, which is also great for us, since we have limited storage for our instruments. ... show more

  • NOT GOOD QUALITY NO REAL SOUND, BETTER TO BLOW WIND IN AN EMPTY BOTTLE
Size: Small
I TRIED IT AND THE SOUND QUALITY IS HORRIBLE, NO REAL SOUND, SADLY I DON'T HAVE TIME TO RETURN SINCE THIS IS A GIFT FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD THOUGH SAMARITANS PURSE. IT IS HEADED OVER SEAS.

  • It sounds really bad
Size: Small
So even though there are notes written in what looks like sharpie at the top of each bamboo tube, (which I personally missed when looking at the pictures online, so I thought I'd mention for others) this product doesn't seem to be made to be played as an instrument as it takes a lot of force to make a sound. I wonder if it's because of the inside of the tubes being very dusty and rough. The only good use I can see from this pan flute is to use it as a prop for a costume. I knew this product was cheap, but I was hoping for some amount of playability :/ ... show more

  • Worth the money.
Size: Small
First 6-7 notes are in tune but not the upper ones. It's okay because I can tune it myself, when I get around to it. Add some wax or glue inside to make it sharp and use sandpaper to make them flat. One of the pipes is leaking but some glue will fix it. Not perfect, but for the price it's great and worth 5 stars, imo. Try making one yourself and it'll take way longer than the cost of these pipes. I've made many bamboo flutes myself and know what it takes. ... show more

  • It's small
Size: Small
So I don't really have anything negative to say about this flute because I don't even know how to play it. I had purchased it with a few other items for meditation practices. I like to play with it but other than that I really couldn't tell someone that is a flute player how good this product is.
