  • Careful on Colors - Great Product for Price
Size: 360 mL Color: Charcoal
I liked the product overall. I originally had some troubles with the colored products as the colors didn't match the pictures. I received some help from Natura and am now extremely happy with the product. I think it's a great value for the cost. There are not as many options for types/sizes/colors as competitors, but it's a great product for value. Was rated as one of the most durable hardwax oils online as well Natura said they are working at offering smaller samples for purchase and I hope that's available because that will help people a lot. Here are my descriptions on the colors I tried if it helps anyone. I don't think their pictures do a good job and I hope they capture a greater number of pictures and wood species to help customers. Picture is on a test piece of alder, sanded to 120 Natural: Clear finish that does yellow the wood a bit similar to a poly or other finish wood. Charcoal: Very dark black finish. Comes out almost like a black stain, completely coating the wood. Both the grain/dark/light parts of the wood all coming out black. It retains the character of the wood grain providing a nice black look. (The picture here has more light parts than most tests I did came out with but was the only picture I had) Black: Came out similar to when I mixed charcoal and the natura. It highlights the grain black and then leaves a nice light brown color on the other parts of the wood similar to the color of the natural with a little black mixed into those parts as well. Walnut: All brown. Very dark brown on parts of grain down to a light brown. Typical walnut brown color for the main parts of the board. Chocolate Brown: The brown is similar to walnut with the grain/darker parts being black. Generally is a dark brown with black color. This is similar to a Kona stain that I often use and I'm actually going to us this as a substitute for that which is much easier to apply. ... show more

  • Easily my new favorite finish
Size: 360 mL Color: Clear
For starters, my least favorite part of any woodworking project has always been finishing. When I started I used polyurethane, which is hard to apply and finicky, and also needs a lot of time to dry, which means dust and bugs and things get trapped in it. Then I moved to shellac, which is a lot nicer, but not as protective. Then I started using oils, which are really nice to apply, but offer almost no protection. This product takes everything from the above, and melds it into one excellent finish. It has the ease of application of an oil, the sheen that I like from shellac, and the protection of polyurethane. I used this to finish the table you see in the picture. I mixed up a little less than a half cup, and it was plenty to cover the entire surface. Went on easy, buffed out nicely, and is curing well. I also had a question which I reached out to the manufacturer with, and they responded in a timely manner. Customer service seems top notch. ... show more

  • The first question people ask me about my pieces are "what did you finish it with?"
Size: 1.3 L Color: Clear
(pictured: kitchen table, yellow cedar and black epoxy. finish: natura onecoat clear. coated once, left to cure, scuffed with a maroon pad, then coated again) I originally bought this product because I wanted a cheaper alternative to Rubio Monocoat. That is not what this finish is. This finish is its own thing, has its own sheen, its own look, and its own tint. I find that this oil is slightly darker and more amber than rubio. It's also less toxic than Rubio and more forgiving. The application process is simple, and can be boosted by using a buffer if you have one, but it's not required. The kitchen table in the pictures has stood up to months of abuse by my family (including 2 toddlers and a wife with ADHD) and still looks as good as it does the day I finished it. The sheen is more of a satin than semi-gloss, and it feels nice to the touch. It feels like a piece of wood still, and not like a piece of plastic or some composite. Some finishes make wood feel too much like melamine or harden the outer layer of wood fiber in a way that feels unnatural. I have also experimented with their stain + oil finishes and was pleased with how those look, as well. However, the clear version is my favorite because I want to bring out the natural figuring, burl, and depth of the wood grain without introducing stain. ... show more

  • Great, Easy to Apply & More affordable
Size: 360 mL Color: Clear
I’ve been a a longtime user of Rubio Monocoat for years for the incredible looking and durability of the finish, especially on high traffic items like floors and table tops. I tried out Naturaone coat about a month ago now because of the 50% lower price as compared with Rubio. Pros- Easy, if not slightly easier to apply than Rubio. It’s a little more fluid and definitely has more linseed oil present, which causes it to soak in a lot quicker than Rubio and the excess removed in less than 5 minuets compared to 15-20 minuets of moving the product around. This is definitely my go to choice for small projects that are hard to finish with Rubio. The product also looks great on all of the different species I finished using natura. It’s extremely similar to Rubio and feels natural to the touch just like other hard wax oil finishes. The packaging is also way better having a SCREW cap to close the lid instead of a paint can top (one of these days someone with make them with a pump top that will be game changing) Cons - not sure about the longevity of the finish yet, I just finished a table with it and am intrigued on how it compares to Rubio, which I really don’t have any beef with other than it’s expensive (but you do get what you pay for.) It definitely has a different oder that is more heavy in the linseed component and not as pleasant as Rubio, but for Voc free and all natural when compared to anything poly-based, it’s a win still. In short I will continue to experiment with this brand and some of their colors for future projects for non-high traffic applications. ... show more
