  • Hard to mess-up
Size Name: Pint Color: Dark Walnut
I built a piece of furniture in pine and wanted to darken the rather white original color while preserving the natural wood patterns. I was contemplating using a stain followed by polyurethane, but the difference of grain in the pine layers gives a zebra effect which is not quite pleasant (the top piece in the picture). This product doesn't produce that much contrast and the result is more uniform (the bottom piece in the picture). The application is both easy, fast and forgiving. The time you have to wipe the excess of the 2nd coat can have a very large range: the product will not dry and produce the gummy mess that other oil would (e.g: tung oil). Picture show before and right-after application. The initial shine will disappear as the oil dries and will leave a finish somewhere between satin and matte... ... show more

  • Amazing results
Size Name: Pint Color: Dark Walnut
Probably one of the easiest finishes to use from all the research I have done. I stained a birch butcher-block desk with the dark walnut Danish oil by starting with 260 grit sanding once over sanding prep, heavy full coverage coat of oil, let it set for 15, mins wipe off excess, and sit for 4-6 hours. did this for 4 coats and for the last coat I did a wet sanding with 600 grit sandpaper and the oil and the results were fantastic (see pictures) bought pints and only used one the other is unopened and I applied the oil with a floor oil staining pad from the hardware store. I will undoubtedly use this again. ... show more

  • Little Prep, Simple Process for Great Job
Size Name: Quart Color: Golden Oak
This product saves me a step (and time) when I refresh my house trim (golden oak). Over time my 28 year old baseboard trim gets nicked or the poly and stain begin to fade. Also helps with pet scratch marks on doors and trim. Sometimes light sanding on the doors may be required to remove deep scratches but the Danish Oil blends in with the surrounding undamaged trim after applying over the sanded portion of the door. I just make sure the trim and doors are clean by using a clean rag and water. After the surface dries I apply the Danish Oil as instructed on the container. Instructions say to apply one coat then apply a second coat after 15 minutes or so. Wipe off the excess 15 minutes after applying the second coat. The instructions say you can apply poly (as an option) at some point after it dries but I decided it wasn't really necessary. I used an old wash cloth to apply the stain and a second wash cloth to wipe off the excess. (I've also used (blue) shop towels that work well.) I refreshed my trim and doors In the past by applying golden oak stain and followed up with wipe on poly after the stain had dried. Danish oil accomplished the same thing in one step in half the time. I like saving time and money. ... show more

  • Super happy with the results
Size Name: Pint Color: Black/Walnut
I am not a very "crafty" person, but I had a number of wood items that needed to be stained with a black walnut finish so I decided to give this a go. It was easy to apply, with the various items requiring 2-3 coats to get the desired effect. I've included a photo of wood windowsill planters, one finished next to another as they were delivered. ... show more

  • Takes the frustration out of wood finishing.
Size Name: Quart Color: Golden Oak
If you do not have a great technique and a dustless shop space to finish in, then this is an alternative. Colored or clear you wipe it on, let it set a bit, and then wipe off what does not absorb into the wood. When you wipe off the excess, the dust and dead bugs wipe off with it. Mostly a low gloss, low build finish. You can build up multiple coats into a satin or even gloss finish, but it is easier to let it dry well, and then top with a wipe on polyurethane to get a finish coat. Nice to work with. On open grain wood, wipe dry several times over the next 12 hours, to distribute oil that was trapped in the wood grain pores. ... show more

  • Worked great for me.
Size Name: Pint Color: Black/Walnut
I used this on an unfinished guitar, the wood was very dry and porous. This made it beautiful, brought out the natural design of the wood, and made a beautiful finish. I put too much on and didn't give it time to dry, and had to strip it off and start over. Just takes a little or you will regret it. I did. It was a first very awful, wanted to throw away my guitar. ! yuck. Then I came to my senses, stripped it of and started new like a normal person and used just a little with a cloth, (don 't use paint brush), was just fine then. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Size Name: Quart Color: Dark Walnut-275 VOC
I can't speak for the longevity of this product (yet) but it looks stunning on my teak patio furniture! I bought it used and it had been stained with deck stain (no!!). I power washed and sanded most of it off but some just wouldn't budge. The dark walnut Danish oil gave the old teak a beautiful color and is dark enough to help hide the blemishes and remaining old stain. I did two coats and it went on easy and absorbed quickly. We will keep them on a covered porch so I expect them to be beautiful for years. The dark walnut was a medium thickness liquid that went on easy - very forgiving application. ... show more
