I was having a hard time finding a bookshelf < 30" but tall enough to not look strange with 10' ceilings for my home office. I wanted a wood look to try to match my desk and other furniture. Pretty happy with this one. The shelving is surprisingly thick and sturdy and I like the way it looks better than even in the pictures. It has a very light woodgrain look and they've done a great job disguising the particle board underneath; they don't look cheap like some particle furniture. The verticals seem to be well made and have a non-descript black finish. Tiny bit tricky to attach to the wall due to the tabs being underneath the top structural member but no real obstacle if you have basic mechanical skills. It does move around a tiny bit since it has only two contact points on the floor (rather than 4 for a normal bookshelf) but it's behind a door in my office so not really an issue. All in all it really fit my constraints well and I'm happy with it at the price I paid. ... show more

Bought two of the shelves to go in a spare/office. The black iron and wood matched a futon and desk I have in the space. Super sturdy and VERY heavy! It's suggested that two people assembly, which is ideal, but it can be done with one person if that person has good balancing skills and some reasonable strength. Same with mounting. I had some trouble with mounting the one on the right just because of the wall. If your mounting in drywall, anchors are NOT AN OPTION! The weight of the shelves will pull it right from the wall! The anchors provided were not good and bent with trying to hammer them in the hole. I used my own. All in all, a good purchase! ... show more

We just installed four of the six-shelf units in a room to create a library. These things are built strong but also have a soft enough look to work in any room. You can tell when you assemble them that these are heavy duty, not the typical cheap pressed wood variety. The only thing to be aware of is they only attach to the wall at the top so you need a little weight on them so the bottom legs won’t slide. I also really appreciated that they have to back which means I still have easy access to wall outlets without having to measure and cut out a back panel. So far we really love these shelves and highly recommend them. We got this in a pretty damaged box, but upon opening it, it looked like all of the parts had somehow avoided damage. The color we got had gold that be more gold in color. It was sort of a dusty/dirty/dull gold that reminded me of old 70's decor. Still, it looked quite sturdy after putting it up, and my daughter likes it. The main issue we found was that it just didn't look straight. After staring at it a while, we noticed there were in fact a few pieces that weren't quite straight. Whether they had actually been damaged in the box or if they were already crooked is hard to tell, since there were no scratches or dents. We really did not want to take it all apart and send it back, so we're just going to deal with a somewhat crooked shelf. Her room is very small so no one will likely stand on the other side of the room and stare at it anyway. ... show more

The unit was easy to assemble, but very awkward and parts were heavy during assembly. I did it by myself, however, would recommend two people and assembling on carpet. I lost my grip during assembly and it fell. Had I not been on carpet it definitely would’ve chipped or damaged the shelf. It’s made of quality materials, but definitely purchase again. Also recommend a smaller drill as the screw holes are in a tight spot bigger drills wouldn’t allow me to drill into the wall, had to finish with a screwdriver. ... show more
