Sturdy repair for audio cables, especially old style, unbalanced, speaker cables. The connection is a clamp that squeezes the wire not a pressure pusshing down. The plug arrive with the clapm closed so it looks like it's "open". Some people have trouble with them the first time thinkinking it is a reverse thread style pushing down on the wire. In the photo the left port is open, and the right is closed. The tip is marked "+" sleeve "-" stamped on the green plastic. Will accept 14 guage wire. Instrument cables take a little more finesse but work fine. ... show more

I was excited to try these. The wires easily went into the green part and screwed down. Seemed precise. But the green part pops out of the black part way too easily. Thankfully our system isn’t being moved. It’s on a shelf in a closet. Had I needed to inplugvthe audio frequently, I would’ve sent these back. Great concept. Would be perfect if they snapped in tightly. The quality of the screws and the 1/4” jack seemed good, just the fit together needs work. Will probably not purchase again until the fix that. But it solved our need to use the existing speaker wire run through the ceiling by just adding 1/4” adapter ends. ... show more

I bought these to make a set of custom speaker cables to connect a standard audio amplifier to a set of vintage Shure Vocal Master speaker towers which required a 1/4" jack for signal input. Using standard lamp wire, I configured a custom-length speaker wire with 1/4" plugs on one end and bare wires on the other. About 25% of the cost of ordering custom cables and they work great.
