  • Exercise and this electric bike
I am thrilled with this electric bike. I am a 5'3 female weighing 150lbs, have one bad knee and am 54 yrs old. I ride a stationary bike at home for between 10-20 min a day and attend water aerobics 3 times a week in the summer. This is my first electric bike and while I do want a workout, I also want to keep up with my very in shape husband as we go up and down the hilly neighborhoods and parks. I also wanted a bike that folded so I could put it in my Chevy Cruise trunk, when not taking the Ford truck. Additionally, I wanted a low entry bike so I would not have to throw my leg over a bar to get on it. Since I am 5'3 I did not want a large frame so that I could rest my feet on the ground when stopped. At 150 lbs I did not want a bike with such small wheels I looked like a clown on a tiny bike like at the circus. Finally, I did not want to unload a ton of money in case I did not like the electric bike. So these were my criteria and without exception, this bike meets them all! The bike came in a box but was essentially together albeit folded. The free assembly expert was unavailable in VA, since he was located in San Diego. Putting it together using a video on YouTube by the manufacturer helped, but it is not the exact bike. Their's is a "Nakto Fashion Folding Bike". I am fairly certain this is the "Nakto Spark Folding Bike". The biggest headache to setting it up is aligning the handlebars with the seat because the join is sideways so that it can fold at an angle. The other issue was the seat. It has a fairly weak clamp that my husband feels does not tightly secure the seat in place. That having been said I rode it yesterday for 5 miles on street, dirt and grass, as well as hopping down a curb without my seat dropping or moving to the side. Other than those two issues we had the bike ready to ride in about 30 minutes. To start it off the battery must be charged. Mine took 4 hours and then the manual recommended for a "full charge", that after the green light comes on the charger, you add one more hour of charging. We did it. The manufacturer also recommends that after each ride, regardless of the length, that you charge your battery for a longer life of the battery. We did that too. My experience in riding this electric bike: It does not have gears so without any electric assistance it is as easy to ride as your childhood bike when they were all metal. I found it to be a good ride, though keep in mind it has no shocks either. It has hand brakes but you cannot pedal it backwards or it will drop the chain as I discovered. Because I do want to get exercise this bike was nearly perfect for me. I pedal without pushing in the red button on the display panel (in=on/out=off) which engages the pedal assist and use it as a regular bike. When that button is pushed as you pedal you hear a low whirl sound and feel the engine add strength to your pedaling. If you have the pedal assist on you may make 2 or 3 full rotations with the pedals but the bike will quickly pick up speed. If you stop pedaling to coast the engine turns off and the bike begins to slow until you resume pedaling. This takes some getting use to as I dropped my bike chain twice when I pedaled when there was no resistance on the pedals. So I figured out that I keep the pedal assist off, ride as a regular bike, but when facing a large hill or when I lose sight of my husband, I push the button and pedal assist kicks in providing me with the extra speed in a burst that I need after which I then turn it off. Regarding the throttle, no pedaling or pushing buttons is necessary. It is always available, though I only used it for two reasons. The first was when I threw the bike chain, I stopped pedaling and used the throttle like a motorcycle to get me home. The other time was when I rode up a steep dirt incline that had an uneven surface. Again I employed it like a dirt bike and it climbed up pretty well. I did need to pedal once or twice at the very top. To use the throttle, you simply turn the right handlebar. It is centered towards the middle of the bike and does not get in the way of using the right handlebar when you don't want to use the throttle. I do not believe you can accidentally get the throttle to turn on. I read this 250 motor would top out at 15mph but I had it at 20mph on pedal assist when on a paved side road. I was not trying to see how fast it would go but I have mounted my own "cat eye velo 7" on it and could read the speed. Incidentally, the attached picture shows the control screen. All that does is tell you how much battery is left. I rode over 5 miles and never saw a drop on the battery. Also, in the pictures you will see a helmet and a rear pack. I have purchase both of those separately. They do not come with the bike. The back rack is a solid rack that is permanently mounted to the back of the bike. It does come with fenders, headlight, a beeping sound for a bell, and a back light. There is a switch on the left handlebar that works the light and has a button for the bell. My back light does not turn on so it may just be a reflector I'm not really sure. The front light is great! My final point for those who hope to carry this bike around. It definitely weighs 50lbs, (battery alone is 10lbs) so while it can become compact when folded, it is not manageable for whipping in and out of trains while commuting, unless you are a very strong person. I can move it around but it takes effort. However, on the positive side, it is a solid well made bike! Overall, for what I wanted, this bike is fantastic! Thank you Nakto! ... show more

  • Comfortable and powerful electric bike
Color: SILVER Style: 26"500w 48v10a Ebike
The media could not be loaded. The bike is comfortable; however, the gel saddle does a decent job, and the tires add some vibration dampening. There is a suspension fork with about 90mm of travel in the front that adds to the comfort as well—just a lot of little details here and there that come together. There is a battery integrated headlight that turns on and off with the push of a button on the handlebar controls, which is neat, and I love that you also get locking ergonomic grips on the handlebar. So decent components for the price, including the motor and battery, so let’s get into those. Driving the bike is a hub-drive motor from their R&D center. This is a 500-watt motor that is operated either by the throttle or cadence-based pedal assist. The pedal assist varies in levels 1-5 and felt responsive. Mechanically, the bike has a 6 speed Shimano Tourney TZ system with a 14-28 tooth cassette in the rear and a 52 tooth chainring in the front. Not the largest range for pedaling, but I would imagine you would throttle this bike a lot as I did. For stopping power, you get 160mm Shimano mechanical disc brakes. Mechanical disc brakes are easy to maintain as well as adjust; however, they lack the immediate stopping power that hydraulic brakes offer. Mechanical brakes are still quite capable, but they take a little more hand actuation than hydraulic brakes. Powering the bike is a 48v 10ah battery pack. 48v is pretty powerful, and that 10ah is a good rating for distance riding, so the pack should last a bit more than other value-priced e-bikes. I love that it has a handle and keeps the weight centered by putting the battery inside the frame. It is secured via lock and key, but I do think you have to keep that key in while the bike is electrically operated, something that could be annoying if it jingles around a lot. Charging is done with the 2 AMP charger, which is lightweight but may take a while to fill that higher capacity rating. To really care for this and other lithium-ion packs, I have heard that storing in a cool dry location vs. extreme heat or cold will extend the life and try to keep it about 50% full when not using for long periods so you won’t stress the cells. Try not to let it run down to zero, because that’s really hard on the cell chemistry. The cockpit controls are great; located on the left side of the handlebars is a medium-size and easy-to-read display. The display is grayscale and features a backlight for night-time riding. To start the bike, press power on the battery, hold the power button to turn on the display. The large display offers a wealth of information starting at the battery levels. The battery infographic is shown in 6 separate 16.6% intervals, which does a better job of leaving the guesswork out than other bikes with 33% or even 20% steps. You can scroll through several pedal assist modes (1-5) and can use the throttle on any as long as you get that pedal rotation in. Other display options include an odometer and a timer. Hold up and down arrows for a couple of seconds to initiate this menu of settings. Once inside, you will have access to backlight settings, unit readout, wheel size configuration, and top speed. The Cruiser proved to be a great bike during the review, and I love that they manage to keep that affordable pricing while still using Shimano gearing, brakes, and some other good components. The tradeoffs would be that it is made primarily for the Chinese market, so you do have a smaller 150mm crank arm. If you are a taller person, pedaling could feel like tip-toeing. Also, the bike isn’t exactly a cruiser with its more forward-riding handlebar position, high step-through frame, and somewhat narrower saddle. That being said, if you know what you are getting into ahead of time, I think the bike combined with the price can offer a lot of value to a potential customer. Pros: Nakto is a company making waves with value-priced bikes at low prices like $649, the Cruiser is a great example of what they can do with a slightly larger budget ($1,149), and I think the fat tires and brand name components do well here A lot of comfortable considerations like the 90mm of travel front suspension fork I love the battery here; 48v is pretty powerful, and that 10ah is a good rating for distance riding, so the pack should last a bit more than other value-priced e-bikes I think 500 watts is incredible, especially since you typically see 250-watt motors at this price point Cons: The bike is made primarily for the Chinese market, so you do have a smaller 150mm crank arm, so if you are a taller person, pedaling could feel like tip-toeing the bike isn’t exactly a cruiser with its more forward riding handlebar position, high step-through frame, and somewhat narrower saddle A couple of little annoyances, like the keys, must stay in when riding, so it could get jingled around, and the crank arm can strike the kickstand when reversing with it down. Overall, I highly recommend this bike. ... show more

  • The bike has been good to me.
Color: BLACK Style: 20"500w Folding Ebike
I’ve had this bike for 2 years now. I have 246 miles on it and it’s still going strong. Had to replace a tire but that’s about it. I use it everyday because I dislike driving. Prefer this bike instead of traffic.
