I've only used this pack once so far, so this is my first take on this pack. To start out with, the pack is very adjustable and comfortable. The shoulder straps have a good amount of lightweight and breathable cushion in them. If like a low sitting pack then you can adjust it to do so. If you prefer it higher up on your back then you can also do that too. I was unaware before the purchase about the ridged back piece built into the pack that maintains the form of the pack. This was a nice surprise and also adds as more back support in my opinion. There is a good amount of room and internal pockets in this thing, with plenty of attachment points if that's what you're into. I'm really digging the weather proof zipper system and how you can unzip just the top or unzip the entire bag down the center gaining access to everything. It's very unique compared to what I'm used to. I love the look of it and the fact that it will allow less water from seeping through the zipper portion of the pack. Last thoughts... If you're looking for a practical, comfortable and somewhat tactical looking pack either for an outdoor pack or a bug out bag then this a great option. This hits all the notes that I've been personally wanting in a backpack and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait for the test of time to show just how good this pack holds together. The construction is as durable and good as advertised (for once!). This pack has a great amount of room for a smaller pack and is really comfortable, even for a tall guy like me with bulging shoulder blades. I love the zippers because they operate smoothly and don't feel like they are going to break or get hung up on themselves. I'm nervous about putting anything of importance in the bottom web pockets as stuff can still fall out, but i've yet to find a pack that wasn't like that. I really do like this product. I bought this to use as my bug out bag that I keep at home for emergencies. For one person, it’s large enough to hold pretty much everything I had. And honestly, if it had been larger (and I’d put more into it), I don’t know whether it would have been possible - let alone as easy - for me to carry. The bag is organized really well and the zippers are fantastic quality. I also love the hard piece behind the straps (covered with cushion so you don’t feel it) that distributes the bag’s weight evenly across the back and hips. I’d read a lot of positive reviews about how comfortable this bag is, and still it blew me away. I’m a 5’5 woman and after adjusting the straps I can carry it with ease. The MOLLE straps will make it easy to attach things that need to be within easy reach/removable (I’ll probably swap my med kit into a pouch to attach versus keeping the items in the pack). And the inner pockets and pouches are all organized symmetrically in a way that makes sense, which makes it super easy to find items in a full pack. ... show more

This was a gift for my husband, and he cannot stop raving about it. The fit is good, the quality is great, and he especially loves the design. Every zipper has a little tab near the end that you can hold on to have the cross force when zipping it up. And it is small enough to be a carry on item in airports. I don't have a lot of miles under a heavier load on this yet but, based on what I've found so far, I'm very happy with this purchase. It's a great day pack for banging around in the woods, it's a very nice city bag for urban adventures lasting a day or two, and with MOLLE expansion it could even be a potential overnight pack depending on if you're willing to go light on your shelter and sleep system. MOLLE webbing on the front, sides and bottom of the pack offer plenty of flexibility and room for expansion. Adjustments are easy. (Although they're faster with help from a friend when getting the torso length set.) Construction is impeccable. My only complaint is that the waist belt is bare 1.5" webbing and MR doesn't appear to offer any mods or upgrades to address this. This is no big deal when the pack is lightly loaded -- mobile office stuff, for example -- but I really started feeling it as loads went beyond 10 lbs or so. Toss in my DSLR, my EDC, a couple liters of water, food, and some other miscellany for a long walk and it can get heavy quickly. A padded waist belt -- included or offered as an add-on would have made this a five-star bag, IMO. The good news is, after a very difficult search effort full of dead-ends for an after-market solution, I *finally* found a replacement hip belt made by AER that fits the bill and matches this bag like it was made for it. It's the AER Hip Belt, Style #AER21012. It attaches easily to the Mystery Ranch 2DAB with no need to modify the bag or the new straps to make it work. Just remove the basic webbing belt that comes with the bag and snap on the AER padded belt behind the webbing buckles permanently affixed to the pack. It even adds an extra inch or two to the belt size which accommodates an extra layer or two in cold weather. At $20 it's a no-brainer, IMO. I'm psyched to go put some real miles on this thing now! :-) ... show more

This pack is perfect for taking it out on range with all your necessities, as a usmc range coach and carrying all gortex gear for unpredictable Okinawa weather along with water and food for the day this pack makes it easy and comfortable. Big water bottle pockets on the side are perfect for my walkers ear muffs and accessories. Overall great pack that saves you from back aches.
