Size: One Size Color: Red
You need a PFD if you're going to be out on the water. And ideally your PFD won't get in the way of your day on the water, but it will be there to help you if you need it. The Khimera Hybrid PFD is perfect. It's low profile with no front zipper, making it more comfortable than a standard foam PFD. It's small enough to stay out of the way and comfortable enough on a warm day, even in a kayak seat. It's slim enough that you can still swim, you won't have to fight it if you're in the water climbing back onto your kayak or paddleboard. And unlike purely inflatable PFDs, you don't have to worry about having enough time to pull the cord and pull it over your head in an emergency. It takes the panic factor out of having an inflatable PFD. Also unlike purely inflatable PFDs, you don't have to repack it after use. Just deflate the bladder and replace the CO2 cartridge. The red color is perfect because you know it will be easier to spot in an emergency. There are more buoyant foam PFDs. There are more comfortable inflatable PFDs. But there aren't any PFDs that are buoyant and inflatable and comfortable at any price point. Peace of mind is worth it ... show more

The best life vest is the one you never have to use. This one was purchased specifically for a fly-in fishing trip to northern Quebec. Summertime water temp is in the low 60’s and can quickly become incapacitating so good PFD’s are a must. This fits the bill nicely. There are plenty of vests available at lower prices, but the Mustang brand is high quality and very reliable. I've been looking for this. A high quality user friendly life jacket for either my wife or daughter to go out on the boat and not be bulky so they can swim and play, but also is not bulky and in the way. Auto Inflatables don't work because they can't get wet. This is a perfect balance.
