  • A solid addition to anyone's setup.
I'll start off by saying I had a lot of trouble and almost returned it, but that was due to my lack of knowledge, not the board itself. MSI has made a quality mid-range board with ample features for the everyday regular user/gamer. It's easy to install, looks great, and the onboard Wi-fi/Bluetooth is awesome. It allows for an easy and stable overclock, I have my 3.2ghz Ryzen 5 1600 running at 3.85ghz no problem, and my 16gb RAM at a nice 3466mhz. Note: I started out with 32gb RAM, 4x8 DDR4 sticks, and couldn't overclock at all. I'm not sure if it's my CPU or the motherboard itself, but it's a good note to take down. Couldn't overclock at all with all 4 sticks. It wouldn't be a big issue, but my RAM is rated for 3600mhz so I want what I paid for. Moving on, the power/RGB/fan/USB locations are all in standard, but easy-to-reach locations. The Dragon Center software is better than some I've used and allows for easy control of fans, voltages, etc. and even allows for custom fan curves, which is really nice. The PCI slots are more sturdy than I expected and didn't let my giant GPU sag as much as I thought it would. The BIOS (Running the latest, 1B) are simplistic, but easy enough to figure out. Overclocking took a bit of playing around to really nail down but it works really well once figured out. The Memory Try It! feature is an interesting alternative to XMP and basically applies manual timings through preset profiles. Personally I do them manually, but that's quite obviously not for everyone. The one thing I wish this card had was always-on USB ports for charging things like controllers and headsets, my last motherboard had that and it's great, but I'm still very happy with my purchase. All in all, this board may seem a little pricy until you factor in the onboard Wi-fi and Bluetooth, and performs better than I expected, that is once I figured everything out. The aesthetics are great, the software is easy to use, and overclocking is *now* a breeze. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great Motherboard with nearly the performance of X570.
I paired this B450 with a Ryzen 5 3600x CPU. My system has 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance CL 16 2666 Mhz RAM, EVGA 1660TI XC Ultra Graphics Card, 256 gb of SSD for the system and 3tb of HDD as a secondary storage. Initially, I had a Noctua CPU cooler, but something went wrong with it and when I talked to Noctua, they refused to honor the warranty. Therefore, I end up using the original CPU Cooler that the came with. The case is Be Quiet Pure Base 500, so far the best case for the money. It is super quiet and easy for installing the parts. Many of you may say that the Ryzen likes the 3200 or 3600 mhz ram sticks rather than the 2666. To be honest, there was not a noticeable difference when I did the benchmarks, nor anyone can feel the difference in the real world. I initially bought the 3600 Mhz ram for this system, but strangely enough, my Intel based computer did better with the faster memory than this one did with it. So, the 2666 is just fine. To come back to the MSI B450 Carbon Gaming AC and what I like about this board. It comes with an integrated Wi-FI card. Also it comes with a feature that lets you flush the bios without having an old gen Ryzen. Remember, this is not set up to work with Ryzen 3000 right out-of-box. First, you need to flush the bios to the latest one before installing the CPU if you decide to go with Ryzen 3000. Flushing the bios is super easy and fun process, at least to me. This B450 is not a slouch. When I compared my benchmarks to other systems with the same CPU, my scores are right there with much more expensive X570 boards. So, this motherboard will not cut from your performance if you go with a CPU that is Ryzen 3600x or lower. The other features I like about this board is that it has many USB ports, Intel LAN, decent audio, and large VRM sink. What I do not like about it is the BIOS" interface and that the I/O shield is not welded to the board. However, if you have a Ryzen CPU and you think that you can gain a lot by overclocking the CPU, I think that you might be disappointed. I think the auto set-up is pretty good and it is already maxing out the CPU very well. Therefore, the only thing that I changed in the BIOS was to enable the XMP feature of the memory. So, I do not care much about the bios interface. I thought that Gigabyte has a terrible bios, this one is worse. Looking at the VRMs capability, I do not think that this motherboard will be okay with Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9. Anyway, if you have extra coins to spend for Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9, you should buy X570 in mid 200 to 300 dollar. And the final thing that I do not like about this board is that it does not support Gen 4 NVME storage. Some other B450 boards do support it though, but I still think that this board is overall the best B450 motherboard. If you ask whether I would recommend it, the answer is definitely Yes if you are pairing this board to Ryzen 5 3600X, 3600, 2600X, 2600, 1600X, or 1600. ... show more
