  • Great looking motherboard which is well priced, but beware.......
Size: mATX Style: MAG B660M BAZOOKA DDR4
Looks like a great motherboard, the online reviews are great for this motherboard. VRM temps look to be top of the heap for B660M motherboards at this price range. HOWEVER, there is a huge problem. This motherboard has an old Bios version that is NOT supported by 13th Gen Intel cpu's. What this means is that if you are building a new PC with a 13th gen cpu, the computer will not boot. There is no Bios Flashback either. This means that you are not able to update bios to support 13 Gen cpu's. What you need to do is buy/use 12 Gen Intel cpu, update the bios and then swap out 12 Gen cpu to 13 Gen cpu. Not ideal. I had to send this board back as unusable and buy an alternate board with a bios flashback (allows you to flash bios without a cpu). So, buy this board if you are using a 12th Gen Intel cpu. If you want 13th Gen support out of the box, look elsewhere. (I bought the Gigabyte Aurous AX B660M motherboard. It is more expensive, but it does come with more usb ports, wifi, BT and bios flashback)... ... show more

  • Sturdy and No-Nonsense
Size: mATX Style: MAG B660M BAZOOKA DDR4
When I chose my board, I wanted a simple one without unneeded features, but I certainly didn't want to cheap out, either - The quality of this board renders it easily the value I sought. The first thing I noticed about this motherboard is that it is hefty, moreso than ATX boards I've previously handled; the stylized metal covers which initially appear decorative offer a secure handhold and a reassuring impression of structural integrity. When building, latching the CPU into its socket often requires disconcerting force, but this board is firm enough to squelch any fear of warping it; likewise, it has no trouble holding up the monstrous heatsink I used. Installing components is noticeably easy; all of the headers are clearly labeled, and they are distributed around the perimeter in a manner that averts awkward positioning. The intuitiveness of the build is bolstered by clear instructions; the included instruction sheet leads you to videos demonstrating the installation of every conceivable component, and the user manual available online not only contains plenty of information regarding the board itself, but also proved to be a valuable general information resource throughout the building process - for this alone, I would recommend this board to a beginner. That said, I did find that in a few places components were positioned awkwardly; when installing an NVME drive into the secondary M2 slot, for example, the position of a nearby PCI slot necessitated some difficult maneuvering. I also found that my case fan connector was unable to reach any of the SYS_FAN headers, which are unusually positioned. This was not a bother; I simply plugged it into the PUMP_FAN header instead and verified correct settings in the BIOS. When it came time to mount the prepared board in the case, the preinstalled I/O shield was indeed a convenience: The board slid into place with little effort at all. It was in the act of securing it, however, that the bulk of the motherboard became more apparent; the metal shielding presented a slight pinching hazard when mounting, and necessitated extra dexterity when screwing into the hard-to-reach corners. Lastly, the included BIOS is easily the most beginner-friendly I've seen; the mouse-and-keyboard controls along with a familiar user interface made it very easy to use the helpful diagnostic tools as I finalized my build. Overall, my new PC runs outstandingly quiet and cool, in no small part with this board pulling its weight. A good motherboard is the near-literal backbone of your computer, and this one is no exception. PS: I suggest finding your board's CHK code *before* you put it in the case. ... show more

  • A solid board for the price but one defective pcie slot
Size: mATX Style: PRO B660M-A DDR4
It’s a good board for the price. Solid VRM and cooling. Everything is great until I was to test its pcie 3 x 4 slot. My 6800xt works well on its pcie 4 x 16 slot but can’t boot on its pcie 3 x 4 slot. I tried another gpu RTX 2080 which should be working well on pcie 3 slot also fails to boot. I guess there might be some bios settings to force that slot to work at the designed speed but there is only settings for the pcie 4x16 slot. Not sure if it’s my individual problem or not. Also to note this board only support Gen 12 intel cpu. You need the 12 Gen cpu to boot and flash bios to support Gen 13 intel cpu. ... show more

  • No issues.
Size: mATX Style: PRO B660M-A DDR4
If it has everything you need, it's a great choice. It includes a built in heat sink over the SSD slot, which I appreciate. I would argue that the WiFi version of the same board (which my friend owns) is worth it, however, as it has built in Bluetooth functionality.

  • Good board but terrible documentation
Size: mATX Style: MAG B660M BAZOOKA DDR4
I have only recently tried MSI boards. While they seem to be solid so far the documentation is terrible. It will help you get set up but the information is SO limited that it isn't obvious what set up options actually do to the performance or operation of the PC. My ASUS boards come with detailed descriptions of the options available, how they affect things, and typical best settings for what circumstances. This not only helps set up for optimum performance but can help with troubleshooting problems. ... show more

  • May not support 13th gen Processor out of the box
Size: mATX Style: PRO B660M-A DDR4
I ordered this board because it got good reviews for handling high processor power loads compared to similar B660 boards. I was planning on installing a 13th gen processor. But after further research I discovered that the serial number contains a B and the 4 digits after the B indicates the yr/mo the board was made. In my case the digits were B2202.. so Feb. Then I checked the MSI web site and the 13th gen bios was released in july. Also the i3-12100 bios was released in March so this board likely would not work for that processor either. Unfortunately this board (MSI Pro B660M-A ddr4) does not have the capability to update the BIOS without a functioning cpu. I returned the board for a MSI Pro z690-A DDR4 which has a bios Flash button on the IO plate to enable a new bios that will recognize 13 gen processors ... show more
