🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The MSI RTX 4090 GPU is greatly appreciated for its problem-free fitting into the PCIe slot and its ability to handle 4k gaming seamlessly, even with its considerable size. Users have praised its performance, low temperature, and noise management while gaming, especially when compared to other brands. Despite some reported coil whine during heavy gaming load and the less exciting aesthetics, the card delivers excellent gaming experience in terms of speed and resolution.

Pros

  • 🎮 Reliable fit in the PCIe slot compared to other brands.
  • ⚡ High-performance capability, perfect for 4K gaming.
  • ❄️ Stays cool even during high-intensity gaming sessions.
  • 🔇 Low fan noise compared to other brands.

Cons

  • 😬 Noticeable coil whine under heavy usage.
  • 🎨 Less appealing aesthetics for its price tag.
  • 📏 Considerably large size, which could potentially pose fitting issues in smaller cases.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a high-quality gaming experience and can access a budget for a premium GPU, the MSI RTX 4090 is definitely a worthy investment. Its top-notch performance and effective cooling system offer great value for the price, despite a few manageable drawbacks such as coil whine and size. However, do ensure your casing can accommodate its larger dimensions before purchase.

  • Powerful + Great Cooling
4090 GAMING X TRIO 24G 4090 performance is unmatched to any other card (for now). Three fans on the X Trio keep this under 70C during load and the fans have yet to hit max spin. In fact, I haven't heard the GPU fans – my Corsair fans for my liquid CPU cooler are far louder. From what I've read, these beefy coolers were designed to run hotter temps but a design change (of the chip?) after the fact resulted in better cooler temps, but the fan/heat-sinks were a done deal. Win-win in my opinion. Real-world results: Cyberpunk 2077 with everything turned to max + ray-tracing (ultra) + 2K resolution provides a steady 50-60 frames (that's w/ a 9900K, 32 GB RAM 3200mhz, on a NVMe m.2). Those frames aren't high enough for my taste, but lowering the settings to high and no ray-trace easily maintains 120+ fps. Game is butter! Other games run very well on ultra / high settings too. The card is a beast, both performance wise and size. Measure before you buy! It fits inside very well with my mid-size case (DeepCool Matrexx 55) Large cases should have no problem but always double check. You micro builders....uh...good luck? It's hefty and built well; very sturdy, but you MUST use a GPU brace/bracket – it will sag without one and I'm very glad that MSI included a bracket. The RGB is nice and the add-on software is decent – the lighting app synced with my MSI motherboard without issue. I haven't tinkered with the software much, so not sure if it plays well with other brands or after-market rgb. Supposed to be a fan-curve tool but I've yet to find it (been too busy gaming). Will update on this if/when I remember to. The price IS ridiculous though; and the only reason I begrudgingly purchased is b/c my recent card was quite dated and I do not see the prices coming down anytime soon for a variety of reasons. If you do not need a card, perhaps it's best to wait, but that's a personal call. Will update this review if there are any problems with the card, warranty, etc. ... show more

  • Massive, powerful, and quiet
I upgraded my GPU from a 1080 to this 4090 and one thing to take away is how massive it is compared to most other GPUs I have seen so make sure you have a case big enough to support the card also I recommend getting some type of GPU support for the sag of the card. I am primarily using this card for 4k Gaming and it is a beast running any game I play at max settings in 4k and getting 90+ FPS. So I highly recommend this card if you are looking for an upgrade to 4k gaming. if you plan on playing in a lower resolution you might want to look at a 4080 super or something equivalent. ... show more

  • Massive
I have had this card since February so I think I can give a review on it now. The card is great, so far no issues, it is not noissy, I have had no heating problems. Mine is not overclocked so the 3 connectors is fine for me. Let's be honest this card as all of the 40 series is waaay overpriced even at msrp, only buy cards like this one if you are really going to be using it for real and not some light 1080p gaming from time to time. Edit: sadly only 4 months in and is giving black screen errors, installed a previous driver, undervolted it, checked all connections and is still having random black screen issues and is not limited to gaming, while browsing the internet is also giving problems. It seems to be that quality is not all that great after all with MSI, god I miss EVGA for this. Will try to get RMA. Was going to RMA but realized the problem was with the monitor that was having some issues it was a 5 years old predator ultrawide, replaced it with a samsung g8. Card is working fine, changing back to 5 stars. ... show more

  • Really great card
Great card. You can run EVERYTHING at the max level and still get very high FPS. Cyberpunk looks like its almost a movie. The graphics and the play are unbelievable. Best card on the market, but it is HUGE. Ive never seen a vid card this big, so make sure youve got the room for it. And the power supply. I THINK it only needs 450 or 500 watts, ive got 1000 so I wasnt really worried about it. Just check your mobo and your cpu and make sure everything is compatible. Cos for me, it wasnt. I needed a new CPU and mobo even though they said I could use the same CPU. But i did end up redoing my entire rig. New tower, liquid cooled, new CPU and new mobo. ... show more

  • Works great! a little larger than other cards
Originally I had purchased a Gigabyte RTX4090 which is much smaller than the MSI and other cards, but it arrived DOA and it would not sit properly in the PCIe slot. This MSI RTX 4090 is about a 1/3 fatter and heavier but it worked fine. It goes into the PCIe slot all the way in with any issues unilke that badly designed gigabyte card. When running FS2000 it becomes a little loud but there is no coil whine as with cards from Asus and most other manufacturers. ... show more

  • Best card in the market 2023
My spec: motherboard: Asus strix x470-f gaming CPU: ryzen 5800X3d with slightly undervolt set curve Ram: 32gb ddr4 3200mhz Ssd: 2tb western digital 3d nand Psu: Msi mpg a1000g 1000watts ATX 90 plus gold Graphic card: 4090 Msi gaming trio x Let’s start first by saying if you don’t have really good cpu you won’t benefit much out of the RTX 4090, but my god it’s breast of a card. You can run every game in 1440p max setting 144fps+ without even making a sweat. And if you undervolt the gpu as well, you will save so much power for same fps. It’s definitely a much to do if you want your card to be efficient and last longer life span. This are the games I tested: cyberpunk, dead space remake 2023, portal with RTX, Witcher 3 2023, modern warfare 2022, battlefield 2042, forza horizon 5, total war: warhammer 3. All max setting on 1440p and run beautifully over 144fps+ I know the price is insane but if you have the money get it in msrp for 1,699.99$, please don’t buy it from reseller, just make sure it’s sold by Amazon. ... show more
