  • Impressive Content Creation Laptop
I purchased this laptop after having my Razer Blade Stealth for about 6 years. The only real issue I had with my Razer was that it had serious cooling issues which started causing frequent reliability issues and then I broke my charger which really prompted me to get this laptop. I was picking between the newer version of the Razer Blade which supposedly has better cooling and this laptop, but the specs on the MSI really blew me away. Better storage, better cooling, better graphics, better ram, the only thing I miss is the touch screen. It is my first 15 inch, my last laptop was 13 and I really liked that size better for mobile work, I have a PC for all of my real content creation. I actually have a bit of an issue with how big it is cause it doesn't fit into my hiking/photography backpack in the laptop slot anymore. Additionally it is quite a bit heavier than my Razer Blade. It didn't seem like that much of a difference in the specs, but with the charging block, it adds a decent amount of weight. Both of those notes are things to consider when it comes to traveling with this laptop. I've had this laptop a full week now and have had no issues with it. The keyboard is very nice, much more responsive than my last one. The touch pad is pretty good, though the right click section is much larger than what I'm used to which causes efficiency issues for me until I get used to it, but that's not an issue with the design itself. I did have a bit of an issue setting up the finger print scanner the first time I tried, but it works well once you get your finger scanned. I like the controls on the keyboard for the camera, touch pad, etc and i love that there are "home" and "end" keys. I am very excited to use the content sharing feature, folding the laptop screen all of the way back and swapping it to share content across the table. Really looking forward to using that in actual meetings. For every day basic use it really is "silent" in silent mode, it does get fairly loud once you open something like photoshop or illustrator, but I haven't had any performance issues, so I'm okay with a little more noise. It's not nearly as loud as my boyfriend's ASUS ROG G703 though. I haven't really given the audio system much thought. I played music off the speakers and it sounds okay, honestly not as good as I expected after reading about all of the "hi-res" and "pro audio" features it has, but I do graphic, photography, and web development, so audio really isn't my thing lol. As expected, one of my main complaints so far is the lack of USB ports. I think it's pretty unacceptable for a laptop to have only one, it was one of the main factors pushing me toward the Razer. Sure it has thunderbolt and type c ports, but nothing I already own uses that. If I want to use my headset and my mouse at the same time, that's impossible without a USB hub, which I purchased immediately with the laptop because I expected this to be an issue. Overall I do recommend this laptop to anyone looking to do some content creation on the go or specifically client facing work sharing that content. I haven't tried to game on it yet, but from all of the benchmark testing I saw in a video comparing laptops, I expect it to work just fine for more things, though I'll probably just stick to gaming on my PC. ... show more

  • A trusty choice
While I would have gone with a different option at this price range, my Geolocation made my choices more limited. That being said, I am glad to have gone for the Creator 15 over the Aero - the screen is absolutely beautiful and well worth the price, even if I don't use it in 4k. Why? Because the difference is not noticeable at this size. If you're buying it for the extra pixels, then forget about it. If you're buying it for the 100sRGB, then you're making the right choice. The battery life is more than decent but you have to remember this computer is a little more powerful and thus, requires more juice. I've gamed several times on it without realizing it, it's usually quiet during a long session of Halo Reach - this laptop has no problems gaming at 1080p and as mentioned above, the only reason to game in 4k is to make your fans louder. Don't make the same mistake I did. Go for ultra settings and forget the unnecessary fan noise. The laptop is well built - however the "A" key broke off and I cannot buy a replacement for it. MSI also does not provide replacement keys, this is a big shame. It would only cost 7USD plus shipping tops, instead I have to feel the key wobbling. I also had ONE stuck pixel. ONE - its only annoying when the screen is fully black and I see that ONE little Magenta dot - but the rest of the time I can't even tell it's there. The aluminum chassis is great and I personally really like the minimalistic aesthetic. I was originally going to go for a Legion and realize that those might be a little too flashy for what I actually use it for - drawing. The keyboard size is great and writing on it (except for that broken key) is quite comfortable. It's firm an has little to no bend on it. Another notable mention is the screen hinges - solid as a rock, no wobbling here~! You can pull it up with a single finger. One drawback is the lack of ports - but this has been a motivator to move into the age of bluetooth for me, to be fair. It's much more comfortable anyways. I look forward to upgrading the RAM to 64GB and adding a second NVMe drive. This is a beautiful and premium machine - the only thing I would consider is if the price point is still a little too high. There are laptops rocking RTX 30s for similar prices - so the screen here is the make or break factor. ... show more
