Surprisingly good flavor and texture for freeze dried eggs and bacon. It’s expensive for everyday but for overnight trips or emergency food it’s good value. Honestly what I do is open a bag of biscuits and gravy and combine them. Then only hydrate half and save the other half in the pouch to hydrate the next day. The eggs have a def bacon flavor. But there is something in them that puts a tickle in my throat. They are pretty salty. Mixed with the biscuits and gravy it tastes good and no tickle. And feels more filling. I love the biscuits and gravy. Lots of sausage in it. ... show more

  • Good
Hey, for freeze dried emergency or camping food, its great. Its not top notch cuisine, its not supposed to be. But I tried all the brands, and Mountain House is by a wide margin the best in taste. It is more expensive, but look at the serving sizes. Many of the slightly cheaper brands cost a little less, but are 1 and a half servings per bag instead of the 2 servings in this brand. Also, look at total calories in the bag, also usually higher for this brand. So I would argue that it may not actually be more expensive to buy this one, and it definitely tastes the best. And has the longest shelf life. ... show more

  • It's doable
I bought these for emergency use camping in Minnesota just in case we ran out of food. Didn't use them so I tried 1 when I got home knowing I could just throw it out if I hated it. I thought they weren't bad. Taste wise it was a little bland but good enough to eat again. The texture was a little hard to get over. Something's were soggy, while some were crunchy. Overall I would eat it for breakfast every day if needed on a camping trip. ... show more

  • Convenient but Soggy and Bland
I'm a huge fan of Mountain House meals and I'm usually quite pleased with the quality. However these scrambled eggs left me a little disappointed when compared to their other foods. Sure it's very convenient and is a great meal to have out in the middle of nowhere, but that's about all the good I can say about it. The main drawback for me is the excess water left over even after following their heating instructions to a tee, which leaves the eggs quite soggy and soupy if not fully drained. I drained mine through a fine mesh sieve thoroughly and they were still rather soggy. Texture was off. If you have nothing to strain them with, you'll have a hard time getting all the extra water out without losing some of the eggs. In Contrast, the "Breakfast Skillet" option with scrambled eggs, potatoes, onions and peppers turns out just fine with no excess water at the end. This makes me wonder if adding less water than the instructions call for could be an improvement for the scrambled eggs and bacon meal. Other than the soggy eggs and excess water left over, they're OK as a convenient hot meal when youre away from civilization. It beats a granola bar for sure. A little on the bland side though. The bacon adds some needed flavor but the pieces are very small and not substantial. I was expecting more bacon and larger pieces. To sum it up, this is not one of the better meals from Mountain House. They make much better options than this one, in my opinion. ... show more

  • Good
These taste good. The prep is ver easy just add boiling water then stir. Rehydrate well. I prefer the mountain house breakfast skillet which has more flavor and slightly different ingredient. Eggs pretty much com out as fresh scrambled eggs should. Lasts for many years. Always good to have a hot easy breakfast to have when camping. Tried many different t pouch’s like this prefer the biscuits and gravy or like I said breakfast skillet by mountain house. ... show more
