Description

Moultrie Mobile’s newest cellular trail camera is the Delta series. Moultrie packed as much advanced technology as possible into this camera. Users will enjoy new HDR (High Dynamic Range) 32MP images with color enhancement for more detailed and realistic-looking images. With the all-new ILLUMI-NIGHT 3 Sensor and 80’ invisible flash and detection range, nighttime images are bright and clear, all while using less battery power. Speaking of battery savings, the Delta camera gets up to 50% improved battery life over previous models. This means less trips into a buck’s home range to change camera batteries. All images are captured with a blazing 0.35-second trigger speed, too. The Delta operates on the AT&T 4G network. Other key advancements incorporated into the Delta are built-in GPS tracking for easy camera location and an Adaptive Trigger that optimizes trigger sensitivity based on environmental conditions for fewer blank photos.

Edit 1: The Delta is Moultrie's attempt to take on Tactacam, specifically the Tactacam Reveal X. If you look at the cellular game camera market over the last year, the Tactacam Reveal was the hottest "low-cost cellular game camera" of 2020. In 2021 Tactacam released the Reveal X, their updated version of the Tactacam Reveal. The Moultrie Delta is Moultrie's attempt to take on the Tactacam Reveal X directly. I believe in the rush to get a product onto the market to challenge the Tactacam Reveal X, Moultrie rushed the Delta. This is why the Delta was released with no owner's manual (in the box or online) and no known/tested compatible SD cards other than Moultrie's own branded SD cards. The Moultrie Delta release feels reminiscent of Windows Vista (with no service packs). A product with potential that was rushed to the market prematurely and has major problems. The specs on the camera itself are great; however, most of my pictures have come back blurry or overexposed. The video clips are limited to 15-seconds and even though the resolution is higher than my older cameras, the video bitrate (quality) is lower than my older Moultrie game cameras. My hope is that through future firmware updates Moultrie will be able to improve the Delta and fix a number of issues, that being said, it's hard for me to endorse the Delta at this time. With all the issues the Delta has, at this price point, the Tactacam Reveal X is arguably the best price/quality cellular game camera on the market. Although the Tactacam Reveal X does not allow for video uploads, a person can record 60-second video clips at a higher bitrate than the Delta. The Tactacam Reveal X can be used with or without the cellular feature (as a traditional game camera) and the Tactacam Reveal X has a cheaper unlimited picture upload plan. All that being said, the Tactacam Reveal SK, a Reveal camera with a built-in solar panel (and internet rumor is a black IR-flash to reduce being seen by wildlife) is set to come out late-summer/fall and from the rumors on the internet, will likely be a better game camera than the Tactacam Reveal X. After purchasing the Moultrie Delta and testing the product, I sent my Delta back and ordered a few Tactacam Reveal X game cameras instead. Edit 2: It should be noted that many trail cam manufactures, including Moultrie, use interpolation to achieve high megapixel ratings. To borrow a paragraph from trailcampro.com: "In the past, many people get confused with the megapixel rating trail camera manufacturers advertise. Companies inflate the mpxl rating to attract eyes to their products. They do this through interpolation, which digitally adds megapixels to a photo without actually improving the picture." Also from trailcampro.com: "Why do companies do this? Because it is an advertising gimmick that has fooled many game camera buyers over the years. " This may help to explain why a game camera with a 32 megapixel rating can take such grainy pictures. I am curious what the actual CMOS sensor resolution is on this camera, because I have my doubts that it is 32 megapixels. Original Post: Excited to try my first cellular game camera (my family has about a dozen traditional, most are made by Moultrie) I put the game camera in the backyard. To my surprise, very few pictures were uploaded. Upon manually checking the SD card on the camera, I found about 75% of the images on the SD card are corrupt. The requirements for the game camera state it can handle a 32 gb, class 10, SD card. Luckily I had a few lying around, despite being harder to find. It appears, at the time of writing this post, that the only SD cards that are known for certain to work with this game camera, is the Moultrie branded SD card. When I contacted Moultrie support they told me my game card was corrupt, so, I put the exact same SD card in my M-990i Moultrie game camera and the card worked without issue, to record maximum quality (for that game camera) 90-second video clips. In the Delta, the SD card has issues recording a single image without corrupting the file. If the Moultrie branded SD cards do indeed work with this game camera as intended, I will likely upgrade the review to a 4-star review, because of the extra hassle of needing to buy Moultrie branded SD cards to make this camera work. As of right now, this game camera deserves a 1-star review, as I would argue it's not Fit for Particular Purpose, aka, being a cellular game camera. I guess it all depends if this camera does indeed work properly with Moultrie branded SD cards. I tried to post about these issues on Moultrie's new forum but the posts are now "under review." I am not sure what is going on with Moultrie but I can not even post publicly about product issues. ... show more

I’ve been using wildlife trail cameras for years and most recently a Moultrie Mobile cellular trail camera, the XA-7000i, so I was extremely excited about the new Moultrie wireless trail camera. Immediately purchased when it came available and could not be more pleased with my purchase. This camera is rock solid and built for the elements. The camera is super easy to setup - just download the Moultrie Mobile app, scan the serial # with your phone and the app walks you step by step through the rest of the setup. Much easier than previous trail cameras I have setup. Tested around the house and received first images almost immediately. Love the clarity, crispness and quality of the new HDR images and can’t wait to get my new camera out in field. Really excited about the new scheduler feature. It allows me to set my camera to capture images at certain periods of my choosing throughout the day. This is awesome. Wasn’t sure about the external antenna (really liked not having an external antenna on my previous Moultrie Mobile cellular camera), but I can already tell that reception is much improved on the Delta cellular camera with the addition of their “cellboost” external antenna - I’m now a believer. Haven’t played around with GPS feature yet, but that is also a cool addition to the Moultrie Mobile feature set. Initial feedback: The best cellular trail camera I’ve ever used!     • Great Cellular Trail Camera!

This new cellular trail camera by Moultrie is AWESOME! I purchased this camera just over two weeks ago, and I have not been disappointed with its performance since arrival. The purchase process was smooth and I feel lucky to have grabbed one because they seem to be selling fast. Once the camera arrived, I pulled it out of the box, scanned the quick start guide to watch the setup video. This camera was so simple to setup…just put in batteries, a class 10 sd card, and download the Moultrie mobile app. After downloading the app all I had to do was setup an account, scan the QR inside the camera and chose a data plan. The ability to chose from a selection of plans was nice, and you can cancel anytime without a penalty or even sign up for a year and get a discount to the rate. The camera did take about 5 minutes to show live on my Moultrie app, and then I was able to change the camera settings as desired. It started transmission of images rather quickly. The day time and night time images are great and the ability to view videos captured is simply amazing. And the best part is I do t have to travel over an hour to my favorite hunting spot to pull the as card and check the images. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone searching for a new cellular trail camera. It will not disappoint! ... show more

The Moultrie Mobile Delta cellular camera is super easy to set up and use. I had the camera up and running within a few minutes after opening the package. After setting up the camera with the app, which was a very simple process, I put it outside to capture some backyard wildlife, and started getting crystal-clear images in no time. I've had Moultrie cams for over 2 decades. The last five years they've become crap. The tech support is a joke, they couldn't resolve an issue I was having on more than one occasion. The App consistently crashes. The picture quality looks worse than my old XV-6000, even though it has better resolution. Most day and some evening pics are washed out. The example pictured was not facing towards the sun, and was taken as sun was coming up. I'm assuming the sensor is of poor quality, dusk and dawn pictures(high game movement times) are very disappointing. They've lost my business for good. I recommend Tactacam Reveal X.
