Not too good for oats! Seeds are too light weight and tend to stop up hopper! I mixed fertilizer with those seeds and it spread much better!

    • Great Spreader with poor hardware....
The spreader is a great spreader with 100lbs capacity. If fits the rack on my honda very well. HOWEVER, the hardware they send lacking. It's very soft metal. I had two fasteners to break. Further, the hardware for the ATV mounting bracket runs out of threads before it metal meets. I triple checked, and i used all of the hardware in the proper places. The metal tubing for the mounting bracket does not have plastic plugs to fill the tube to keep dirt out and the edges will cut your skin as well. There are bolt holes for fastening the spreader to the mounting bracket on the ATV, but no fasteners are provided. The band that is designed for the girth of the spreader has a spacer that fastens between where the two halves of the band meet, but it is far to thin to fill the gap. I'm really surprised that moutltrie did not provide a higher quality product. ... show more

    • Poor assembly instructions and poor packaging.
Moultrie makes good stuff so I'm sure it will work fine, won't know until weather warms up. However I have never assembled anything with such poor instructions. Thank goodness for the two pictures on the shipping box! Hardware didn't match description, some was missing, found pieces in driveway after UPS truck left. Apparently everything is packed inside the feeder, but if the lid is dislodged during shipping, little pieces simply fall out of the box. A piece of tape on the lid would have solved the problem and perhaps someone at Moultrie should actually assemble one of these using only the vague instruction sheet. Correction; Used it for first time and the frame broke, letting the spreader hang sideways off the ATV. Disappointing to say the least. ... show more

Have used these seeders for years and they do well with most seeds although if you want to plant oats get ready because your gonna have problems. The gate holes are not large enough for the long oat seed to flow through. will stop up a lot. Moultrie needs to work on this. I have made the holes larger and it seems to work better. Small seed like grass and wheat does fine with no issue. This is not something you want to put together in the field if this is your first one. This is a garage job where you can pry holes that don't line up and have a few extra tools. Overall it will work well when you get it on and adjusted. Purchase the ATV adaptor with the 2" receiver and it will make it a lot easier to take off and on. ... show more

    • Who packs your boxes and punches your holes??
Sooo many missing pieces! ...screws that didn't fit, washers and bolts missing. Had to puncture a hole in the metal lever arm because the hole was not completely cut, and had to ream out the predrilled hole on the bottom of the hopper because it didn't align with the hole in the stiffner. We've just finished putting it together, and YES it runs! :) We'll see tomorrow, how well it works... but so far we are very very disappointed in all the extra work that had to go into this assembly. MOULTRIE... Our comment is VERY similar to previous comments, which tells to me that your company is not being very responsive to quality issues. Please address these issues, so that we can trust purchasing from your company again. Thanks ... show more

    • Directions are are crap
Put out a ton of lime pelletized lime and seed it worked great! If you are mechanically inclined you better have a friend that is put it together for you directions completely suck ass and build it at home not in woods!!!! I got it together ok but I am a ac contractor I work with poor instructions every day! Bottom bracket in tub was to big and cracked tub at seam 6iches up I sealed with automotive rtv and moved on. ... show more

Works as advertised. This is my second Moultrie atv spreader. Did not maintain the frist one very well. Had it for about 10 years and used it a lot. Needs to be cleaned and washed out good after spreadung lime and fertilizer. Like some of the new features especially the handle for opening and closing the hopper. Very easy to open and shut. Throws pelletized lime and fertilizer approxomately 12-13 feet each side of spreader mounted on my atv. Only negative is if the lime or fertilizer has gotten damp it clumps up and plugs the openings in the bottom of the hopper. I use a piece of 1/2" wire mesh to pour thru and it works great for removing the clumps. ... show more

    • NOT FOR NATIVE PASTURE GRASS SEED
This thing would be easy to put together had all the nuts, bolts and washers been included. Having 7-foot arms would have also helped! Be aware you better have long sockets to put this one together. After 2 trips to the hardware store to get the missing parts (2 trips because the parts that should be included are not stated in the enclosed instructions so you have to figure out what you need as you go along), I got the thing together. It was advertised to handle grass seed. Guess what! It might handle round grass seed but it won't handle a flat grass seed such as native Texas pasture grasses. There is no agitator in the bottom and the flatter seeds just pack in the bottom. Only way to get it to work as described is to mix another product that is roundish with your grass seed or to have one person drive while the other sits in the back, stirring the seeds in the hopper to keep the holes from blocking. I should have sent it back when I realized it has not complete! Spend the extra money and get something that works. ... show more
