We went on a trip and needed a trustworthy way to feed our dog. I had purchased an automatic dog feeder in the past but found that if the dog knocked into it or a cat decided to jump on it, the weight would reset and the feeder would no longer go off. We invested in this product and are so happy we did. I ended up buying puppy chow because the bits were smaller than the dog food our pupper normally ate. It worked wonderfully. We did fashion a “surround” for it using zip ties and screen so the food wouldn’t go flying far (that would just be mean!). I’m sure our dog would’ve been up to the challenge of finding all the pieces, but we had it fall just below the unit in a relatively nice pile. The unit was very easy to assemble, had no missing parts, and it looks good even right next to the house. The feeder is a great size and you can adjust the height of the legs as desired. It is very windy where we live and the unit didn’t tip over. It operates off of AA batteries and is extremely easy to program. There is also a “key” or “legend”, if you will, on the lid to the battery/setting compartment so you do not have to hold onto any instructions or look up how much food is dispensed in “X” number of seconds. I highly recommend either for use as a deer feeder or dog food feeder. :) ... show more

I give it 4 Stars because people don’t read 5 Star ratings as much. ***** This is not my first Mountie. I specifically like the feeder timing unit which I have on other feeders. 2 things I like most… and you will too… the unit is reliable for multiple seasons (My home year-round feeder timing unit has been installed for 4 years) and the 4 AA batteries last a LONG time. These are 2 very important factors especially when you work all week and use those precious few weekends to hunt. Nothing worse than a dead feeder that has not spun for days. ... show more

Works great! The feet and ground stakes are a nice addition to the feeder! I really like the idea of the electric varmint guard, although I can’t figure out how to hook the wires up. I hook positive to positive side of battery, but when I hook negative up it sets the feeder off, and will go off until I unhook the wire. Maybe that one doesn’t need hooked up or maybe there’s a spot specifically for the negative wire. I don’t know, but I’m going to mess with it some more and call customer service possibly. Moultries customer service is TOP NOTCH!! I had a camera that quit working, called them and I had a new camera within a few days! I will stick with moultrie products for all of my hunting days, as long as the customer service stays the same! ... show more

Pros: Easy to fill. Has lot of available settings and 3 different motor speeds. Has a wide foot print so it would be diffacult to tip over. Except a bear.. Cons: the Tree rats will eat it in a wooded area. I've build a protective slip on wire cover for mine because I've seen what squirrels do to feeders. I will also be making a motor critter guard also. But Moultrie make one for about 35 bucks. So far it's been in this patch of woods or about 3 weeks and it works perfectly. The deer are enjoying it for sure. ... show more

I was happy with the quality of these feeders (I bought two). This is the first year of use, so we'll see how they hold up over time, but so far so good! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because programing is confusing, and honestly a pain.. from getting the date/time set to the feed schedules, don't throw those instructions away! ... show more

Purchased the 30 gallon Moultrie feeder, it was so easy to set up. The timer was also easy to program, runs on 4 double AA batteries. I set three feed times at 14 seconds ea. Batteries will last 3 months. Well done Moultrie
