Description

It is specifically designed for powerful and recent cars fitted with high displacement engines, gasoline direct injection and turbo Diesel and catalytic converters. Numerous car maker approvals make this product a multi-purpose and is especially recommended when the car is under warranty. Suitable for leaded or unleaded gasoline, diesel fuels and LPG. The OPEL/GM diesel LL B-025 standard requires two main properties to the lubricant such as high HTHS and very low volatility to drastically decrease oil consumption. Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 is especially recommended for OPEL 2.0 and 2.2 DTI engines (extended drain interval by computer on board). The ACEA B4 performance requires an outstanding detergent/dispersent power and a better viscosity increase resistance due to soot produced by direct Injection diesel engines (except VW unit injector engines that require MOTUL Specific 505.01 5W-40). The MB 229.3 standard is more stringent than 229.1 in terms of ageing resistance (extended drain interval by computer on board ), detergent/dispersent power (ACEA B4) and requests fuel economy performance where 1.2 percentage fuel economy improvement versus a 15W-40 reference. Motor oil is made from crude oil and is used to lubricate, clean, and cool engines. Types of motor oil include conventional, synthetic, diesel, bio-based, hybrid (blends of conventional and synthetic), and recycled oils. Motor oil varies in weight and viscosity, as well as additives that some manufacturers add to the oil during the refining process. A numerical code system created by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) grades motor oils according to viscosity--the higher the number between 0 and 60, the more viscous (thicker) the oil is. Most consumer motor oils are graded by two numbers, with the first number indicating cold weather (Winter or "W") performance.SAE 5W-40This oil has a weight of SAE 5W-40, meaning it has an SAE viscosity rating of 5 in cold temperatures and a rating of 40 at normal operating temperature. Always check your vehicle's owner's manual to verify that this is the correct weight of motor oil for your vehicle.Full Synthetic OilThis oil is a full synthetic oil, meaning crude oil is not used in making it. Synthetic oil can be used in vehicle engines instead of motor oils refined from crude oil, and often provides superior mechanical performance over traditional motor oil, including increased gas mileage and reduced engine wear at extreme temperatures. Its complex method of production means it can often cost more than conventional motor oil.

  • Best oil for the price.
Many Subaru performance shops only recommend Motul. This oil doesn’t brake down as fast as other oils do. You can research Motul for yourself and see why many people only use Motul. This is the only oil I’ll ever use for my wrx.

  • Sold me gen2 at gen1 price.
Not a product review, as Motul oils are superior. However, vendor sold me gen2 8100 when I paid for the more expensive gen1 oil. The gen2 product is thinner, engineered for newer engines. Just be honest about what you're selling instead of fleecing your customers. Won't use this vendor again.

  • Excellent oil for Hyundai/Kia 1.6 Turbo
Size: 5 Liter (169.07 Ounce), (Case of 4)
This oil is perfect for the 1.6T engine from Hyundai/Kia. I use it in my 2018 Elantra Sport, but this engine is also used in the Veloster Turbo and Kia Forte GT. Ignore the printing on the oil cap that says 5W-30. Read the manual and you will see Hyundai/Kia approves 5W-40. You can even use 20W-50 for this engine if the temperatures in your area don't drop below 20F. Even Hyundai themselves have admitted that the 5W30 oil may not offer the best protection and is only recommended for best fuel economy. This is what Hyundai TSB 16-20-001 says: "Although the Genesis Coupe Turbo, Sonata Turbo, Santa Fe Turbo, Elantra Sport, Tucson Turbo and Veloster Turbo are labelled with 5W30 on the oil cap, HACC recommends use of 5W40 to offer the best engine protection for these vehicles." When you research 5W40 oils in the US, you will find out there are not a whole lot of options. You could use Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, but it is difficult to find in stores and it only comes in 1 Quart bottles, making it expensive. Castrol Edge 5W-40 is an option, but Castrol oils use a lower grade base oil. This Motul oil is the best 5W-40 oil that money can buy. It is 100% synthetic, not just "full synthetic" (do an Internet search and find out the difference). I also use Motul 100% synthetic oils in my motorcycles, and it's simply the best. I drive over 20,000 miles a year and I keep my vehicles for a long time (over 150,000 miles). If you care about the longevity of your engine, especially a turbocharged one, use this product. ... show more

  • This is outstanding motor oil in my 2013 Abarth.
I've had lots of vehicles (over 20), tried many brands of synthetic motor oils, and for the most part, oil is oil. I find it odd when someone tells me their engine is smoother or quieter with a certain synthetic brand. I've used only OEM oil in the FIAT, which is Pennzoil 5w-40 Euro. I have always been pleased with Pennzoil. I had to pull the valve cover and the internals of the engine were clean, no varnish or anything. So why did I decide to try Motul? My FIAT burns a ton of oil. I typically burn a quart every 600 - 900 miles! FIAT's require the oil level to be correct as they use an electro-hydraulic unit to operate the intake valves, called the Multiair brick. I check the oil level very frequently. I've researched lots of synthetic oil alternatives for the FIAT and decided to give Motul a try. Currently, the Motul oil is nice and clean at 400 miles of driving, the oil level still reads full. I would have expected to be down maybe a 1/3 of a quart by now. With Motul, the engine sounds the same - no, it's not mechanically quieter and doesn't have more perceived power. But at least for now, this oil is not going out the tail pipe at the rate that Pennzoil did. We shall see how it does after a couple thousand miles. In the meantime, I ordered another 5 liter jug of Motul. Update: 1000 miles and used 1/2 of a quart. Oil still looks clean. Probably will stick with Motul. ... show more

  • Oil. For your engine.
Uhm, well, it’s motor oil for you engine. My tuner uses this in their vehicles so they suggested I use this and that’s why I use it. Other than that, I can’t comment on whether this is any better than other brands but Motul is rated very well. As always, go with whatever your tuner uses since they’ve used it all and found something that works… ... show more

  • Good Oil
I use this in my K04 MK6 GTI through plenty of recommendations on the forums. While I've stuck to it for awhile and change my oil between each extreme weather here in Jersey (before the summer, before the winter), I'm not sure that gives me enough to gauge how effective as an oil it is. I don't put on that many miles yearly so the little I do put on, (maybe 8000), the oil is sufficient. I've actually switched to Liqui Moly for this past summer due to a sale that included oil filter and the overall oil was priced a heck of a lot cheaper than this one. For some reason I felt it gave my car a more responsive feel which makes no sense and is probably more of a placebo that got me. I will most likely continue with Motul unless I find a cheaper deal on just as sufficient oil for my car and it's recommendations. Again, I do not track or drive enough miles with my car to gauge the overall effectiveness, but for the few times I give the car a go hard, it worked great. I would recommend it for any performance car that qualifies for it's specifications. ... show more

  • Excellent motor oil for my W210 E-Class (received Gen2 product)
I've been using Motul for several years now, after heeding forum/YouTube recommendations. I had been running Mobil1 0w-40 in my W210 E-Class. I switched to 5w-40 Motul to provide a bit more wear protection (and prevent some oil leaks if I'm being honest). The oil change, I ran LiquiMoly Engline Flush, followed up with Motul oil and Ceratec. My motor's been running very smooth and quiet since then. I also haven't seen much oil leaks either after replacing some seals. I want to add too that I ordered this specific product (8100 X-cess Gen 1 four case) from this page, because it was cheaper than the new Gen2 formulation (when buying 4). However, I did receive the new Gen2 product (from Mass Depot) for less than it should've cost individually. Looks like suppliers are shipping out Gen2 as a replacement for the original. Just be aware of that in case you're very particular about what you order. ... show more
