Directions To Use: Using A Soft, Clean Microfiber Cloth, Apply A Little Bit Of Polish Onto The Metal Surface. Then Begin By Rubbing It Back And Forth, Not In A Circular Motion. As You Do This, You’Ll Notice The Black Grime And Residue Lifting Onto Your Cloth. Keep Rubbing Until There’S No More Residue Coming Off Of The Metal. I have used Mothers many, many times in the past and will continue to use it. I gave this one a 5-star rating for the quality of the material. I gave it a ONE STAR rating on the "easy to remove" rating section. I did that because in all my life, I have NEVER, EVER had such a hard time removing a top from any type of container, that I have with this 10 oz. container of Mothers!! And once I got it off, it's phenomenally hard to get it back on again! WHAT?????? I mean, this is not rocket science. The container is about 3-3 1/2" in diameter and the lid is only slightly larger. Something went radically wrong when fabricating the lid, at least for this container. I have no idea if others that have purchased from the same lot are having the same issue(s). I mean, no matter what approach I take, trying to line up the one single thread to start screwing it on and, nope, it ain't going. I have tried and tried to replace the lid, ain't happening. Never, ever seen anything like this. As stated, Mothers is a great product and I have used a tiny bit of it to make sure this batch is the same quality and so far, it tests great. So, with all this being said, I won't be sending this back because of some odd glitch with a top that won't go back on. The product is good. It's the container that's screwed up. Soooo, I'll just find another container and I'll be happy. I think a 10 oz chocolate frosting container that I'm just about done with will work just great. We'll see. ... show more

    • Excellent polish for general purposes!

This polish can be used for many things outside the advertised use cases but be mindful that results may vary. For metal it is excellent and you can use it for softer metals than steel as well. Works well with tarnished jewelry as well. A little goes a long way, do not use too much. Micro fiber works best with this in my experience. Black means you're removing oxidation and dirt, exposing clean polished metal so keep going! I would refrain from using on car paint but it can actually work quite well (albeit a bit aggressive). If used on paint or plastic especially, wash well with oil and wax stripping soap and a clean non abrasive micro fiber towel to remove any residue. ... show more

My chrome rims needed polishing badly. After reading many reviews on different products i chose Mothers and a old tooth brush. I dabbed the toothbrush in the mother's paste a little dab will do ya. I had ordered the wool cone shaped drill attachments but they didn't fit the corners like I thought they would. So I tried the toothbrush and it worked out perfectly for my needs. I'm very pleased with the outcome. And only took me about 10 minutes per rim. The lid on the jar is tricky to open and close but I just snap it on and seal it in a Ziploc bag just in case. This is one of the best general use polishes around. I've used it to great affect on steel, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum. Works relatively quickly too. I found an old jar of it in a closet that was somewhere around 10 years old, and while it looked all crappy and dried up, but all I had to do was put a screw driver in it and stir it up some and it still works like a champ.     • Unusual Use: Headlight Lens Polishing--Works Great

I recently saw some Youtube videos on how to restore faded, yellowed headlight plastic lenses using this product so I bought it. My first project was to see if I could improve the clarity of the headlights on my daughter's Mazda. I applied this stuff using a paper towel and at first, thought nothing was happening. But as I wiped it off and buffed it with a second towel, I noticed the lens became clear and the yellow tint from age was 80% reduced. The headlights are much clearer and shine farther down the road now. Useful product at a good price. They only need to work on their packaging. I washed/detailed my mother's car for her birthday. There was a noticeable amount of haze over the headlights, which has become commonplace with the cheap plastic lenses. A couple of applications with Mothers Aluminum Mag Polish, and the lenses look almost new (see photo where I treated half while the other half was left untreated). Don't misunderstand, there was still an ample amount of elbow greased involved, not to mention an electric random orbital buffer with several different pad textures and a microfiber cloth to finish the job. Average time per lense was 10 minutes from initial application to completion. Can't believe the difference this made in removing the oxidized layer of film. The results seem to last as this was about six months ago. Very pleased! ... show more

    • Works OK but needs more abrasive material

This polish is a good product and it’s priced OK but what I found when using this to polish numerous things is that the amount of elbow grease that’s needed is higher than it should be. This comes down to the fact that the polish doesn’t seem to have muchabrasive material in it and so the little amount that is there requires excessive elbow grease. It does what it claims to do decently but it would be an easy five star product if they would simply up the abrasive material.     • The lid and jar are ill-fitting; thus, hard to open and close.

Just like others have mentioned, the 10 oz container comes with a cap that is too small, and has different groove patterns inside. The cap is grey colored plastic while the container is white plastic. It is difficult to remove the cap; and, once removed, it is not possible to screw it back on. I initially gave my review one star, and complained to Mothers.com via email. To their credit, they responded immediately, apologized for the issue, and indicated that the problem was due to supply chain issues with regard to lids and jars at their end. I upgraded my review to 4 stars because those post-pandemic supply-chain issues are not in Mothers. com's control. And, due to the fact that the product itself, the Mag & Aluminum Polish, is still a great product. I hope they get their supply-chain issues resolved soon. ... show more
