  • Installation is not so smooth
Style: 2007-2011
I like the product's value for the money. I bought this knowing about the challenges other users faced installing the product. The best tips for installing are to (1) trim rubber pieces to improve the fit of the towers to the mounting screws. (2) Only tighten the bar screws on the side where the holes are fixed. For the other side set the screws loose to allow for adjusting the fit between the mounting screws on opposing sides. (3) The cover plates do not fit well at all once the towers are mounted. Keep your expectations low and find a creative way to keep them from blowing off. I don't have a tip for this one yet. I just used black duct tape to keep them from flying away. ... show more

  • Works good
Style: 2007-2011
Instructions were not good and the covers for the bolts would pop off so I had too screw it to the car and other then that I have no complaints.

  • Works fine, don't expect too much from this.
Style: 2002-2006
2006 Honda CR-V. First of all, agree with the other reviews that the mounting screws are too long. Get (12) M6 x 20mm allen socket drive screws. Also get (16) 1/4 inch or 6mm lock washers. Also get (8) #10 x 1 inch flat head stainless sheet metal screws. The instructions are horrible. Plan on that. After removing the factory caps on rails, assemble the crossbars using (4) lockwashers with the (4) shorter supplied screws. Tighten them securely. The long crossbar goes on the front. I disagree with the other reviews that mention that the front cross bar is too long and needed to be cut. Don't do it! The trick is to mount the crossbar on one side (using the separately purchased allen head screws and lockwashers), but only tighten them loosely. Then go to the other side and push on the crossbar to squeeze it to get it into the mounting slots. The crossbar will bow upward (probably adding strength) to get to the correct length. Then put in the screws with lockwashers on that side. Then tighten the 6 screws very well. Always start the screws carefully, the risk of cross-threading is high. Other reviews mention that the caps will fly off while driving. I can see why. The press-lock on the caps is wholly inadequate under driving conditions. I drilled two holes in each cap through the press-lock fitting and, after snapping the caps in place, drove two #10 x 1 inch round head stainless sheet metal screws to expand the internal of the press-lock. I could have gotten something more attractive, but I just happen to have them in stock. Probably a slightly countersunk flat head would have been a better choice. After all this, your set to go. I have a small 11 foot canoe that I strapped on to these crossbars and it works very well. I drove almost 2,000 miles with sometimes strong winds without any problems. Keep in mind that this is a light-weight unit but is a good value for the money. ... show more

  • Snug fit for a 2015 CRV!
Style: 2012-2016
Fits like a glove- like previous reviews, don’t tighten until all parts are seated, and bolts are threaded. Perfect for the Rocket box.

  • Good Value Poor fit and cover design
Style: 2007-2011
They are reasonably priced but the cross tubes were cut the wrong lengths so it was almost impossible to sit the plastic parts low enough so the female nut/bolt could be threaded. the rear assembly was about 1/8" too long and i had to strong arm and have someone else lean against the new brackets to flex them enough to slide down onto the bolts. The covers to hide the bolts were designed poorly because once you tighten down the bolts against the included rubber weatherstripping molds, the molds compress and flex and interfere with "popping" the covers back onto the rack. You will have to cut away rubber around all 4 mounts to get the cover to pop back on, use a zip tie for each cover, or screw them down or glue them down like others have done in the reviews. took me like 1.5 hours of just trying to get the rear aligned correctly and i still have to try to get the covers attached. ... show more

  • Works well and easy to install with some custom touches
Style: 2007-2011
Many people have mentioned theirs did not come with instructions, but mine did. Very basic, but good enough for me. One thing is the instructions called for a T 40 Torx, but it's actually a T 30 that was needed. One thing many people have complained about that is true is the fact that the covers will not stay attached. I seriously suggest if you get this rack that you find a way to attach them yourself. Because I read so many reviews I came into this with my eyes wide open, so I was prepared to find a solution. In my case I drove screws into both the front and back of all four covers. I wish I had black screws, but not a biggie for me. See attached photos. Now they stay down just fine. If you don't want to do it this way find your own method, but definitely find a way to secure them because they won't stay on if you don't. All in all I think it was worth having to do that given the excellent value of the product. I have already traveled with my two kayaks and everything is working fine. ... show more

  • It works, but not great
Style: 2002-2006
The rack system has been on my vehicle less than a year, and while it hasnt come loose or had any structural issues, the cosmetic covers that hide the mounting screws dont fit the best - nor do they like to stay in-place. I've lose 2 out of 4 covers, just driving down the road. Unfortunately, you cannot buy replacements unless you go with Factory Honda pieces (which do fit, but arent cheap). All in all, it works - just not as well as the factory option. Given the price point, I'd say it's still a decent buy. ... show more

  • Nice but not great instructions.
Style: 2002-2006
It is important to put the parts together before you try to install. I found that the two assemblies are different lengths. (DON'T fasten the assemblies to the car yet) Screw all the screws in first to make sure they go in all the way. Moreover, take your time when you do it so you don't strip them. They can be a little tight, but mine went in. Lastly, DON'T screw one side down first. Start both sides at the same time, 1/4 inch to 3/8 should do it. Then you can tighten all the way. Remember this is a light duty rack. I'm hoping it will hold our car carrier. Will let you know how it holds up later. It's later and the roof rack held up with the car carrier held on it. We made sure not to overload the weight capacity. However, It was packed. One more thing, the caps that cover the end of the roof rack, I think will fly off. So you may want to tape or glue them on so they don't fly off. ... show more
