    • Very fiddly to put together.
Once I figured out how they went together, they were fine. Forget the instructions, they sucked. I had to look up installation on YouTube. The part of the cross bar that slides into a track on the roof rack will not work on both sides. One side would slide right on while the other side would not. I finally figured out that two would fit on one side of the roof rack while the other two would fit on the other. That certainly was not in the instructions. I was supposed to get two Torx screws to make sure the bars could not slide off while driving if they came loose. It came with two flimsy Phillips head screws and I had to guess where they went. It took me a lot longer to install than it should have. Having said that, once it was installed, it worked fine and experienced no problems on a long drive to Florida. Fits my 2011 Honda Pilot, and my new Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box X-Large (XL) 18 ft^3 fits on it very well. For installation help, watch the YouTube video titled "SPECDTUNING INSTALLATION VIDEO: 2009 - 2015 HONDA PILOT ROOF RACK", which is 3:03 in length. Good product. Fits well. Seems strong enough. Note that the end-caps which slide into the rack rails **are plastic**. This surprised me, as they looked liked metal. They are not. That's okay I guess, as they seem to work. Also note that the rails are airfoils, with a front and a rear. They are NOT symmetric, meaning they definitely have a front. Just like on an airplane wing, the more-blunt-and-rounded edge of the bar airfoil goes towards the **front** of the car and the more-sharp-and-tapered end goes towards the **rear**. Also, that means that the plastic end-caps are shaped in such a way that you have 2 left end caps and 2 right end caps, and they cannot be arbitrarily mixed and matched. Pay attention to this. You'll see it when you try to place them over the bars. These subtleties are not mentioned in the video, even though it is very good. Lastly, the bars have a slip of paper that says they are rated to 165 lbs. Since my Thule roof rack cargo carrier weighs 50 lbs, that leaves only 165-50 - **115lbs max** for cargo. This Amazon listing recommends 150 lbs, however, leaving only **100 lbs max** for cargo inside my cargo carrier. ... show more

I've only used this rack on one trip, so far. We were hauling recreational kayaks about 200 miles each way. The rack did a good job supporting the yaks in their own j-rack. It wasn't exactly easy to install on top of a Honda Pilot, but it wasn't hard, either. I'm a small female and I did it myself on a ladder. I'm happy to be able to haul boats, skis, and bikes, now. Doesn't whistle on the interstate, either. ... show more

The installation instructions left something to be desired, but I eventually figured them out. Be sure to pre load the parts as I pictured before sliding them in...this may be obvious to others but I didn't think about it until after I had slid them on. It's also WAY easier to have someone assist by gently tugging these thru the track from the top of the vehicle. I've attached j hooks for my kayak to them and so far they've done great with two trips of 1-3 hours and high speeds. ... show more

    • Defective, and Impossible to Install
So I read the reviews, purchased it, watched the video as the review suggested and thought I would be able to install it in a few hours. If yours isn't defective, you should plan 2-3 hours to install it minimum. Mine was defective with a bracket that was not sized right for the bolt needed to hold the bar in place. Returning for a full refund and moving on. In hindsight, I should have gone with the generic one I saw on Amazon with more reviews. ... show more

The product arrived on time as promised. During assembly, one of the rail ends had a defect, though usable. I wrote the company and they were diligent to work with me to acquire the replacement part at no cost. It took a little time but the part arrived as promised!

We bought these for a road trip. We were going to use them as extra security to the roof bag we used. When we put them on our 2012 Honda Pilot it made the surface area on top very small unless setting roof bag on top of bars which I didn't want to do. Installation definitely requires 2 people because you have to slide the bar into the side bar at the same time. It is only made of hard plastic that I think would snap easily if you try and force it into the side bar. I'm sort of neutral on the quality of the item. We ended up not using them just due to the area it left after installation. We kept them because the hassle to send back wasn't worth it and we may use them in the future if we need to transport something that doesn't fit inside the Pilot. ... show more

I was worried that buying after market cross bars to go alongside different after market side rails, but they fit great and seemed to be made of quality materials. I took an 8 hour trip with a luggage container attached without any problems.
