I set up a kajillion of kits we buy from Ikea, Amazon, Target, etc... The wood for this bed is good and solid and the paint is thick and smooth. Definitely feels heavier than other cheaper wood furniture kits. I would say that the bottom bed only comes with 7 cross wooden slats for the mattress which is not enough at all if you are putting a mattress straight on. I would recommend not using them at all or making some extras. We had a taller mattress and ended up not using the wooden slats since the mattress went on the floor. Something to keep in mind.
