Works well, but a lot of overhang when mounted perpendicular on a mini-mill. Raw metal so be ready to spray it down to protect from corrosion. I found the little feet were too thick for my mini-mill so had to cut them down. Very accurately made, better than most.

This is a nice little vise for the money, but after I cut myself moving it, I noticed that nearly every edge on the thing was sharp, i.e., not eased at all (hence the 4 star rating). it comes with pins for the bottom to align to your t-slots, but they probably wont fit your machine. they are .437"x.706"x.783" - they dont fit the 5/8" t slots on my induma (bridgeport clone) it has no clamps to hold it down, and minimal provision to clamp it. the grove along the side is ~.23" deep, not enough to sanely grip with hold down bars. the deeper pocket is at the extreme rear, not near the working area of the vice. the "instruction" booklet is a set of measurements that were supposed to be performed during QC, and signed off on, but of course it's blank. I sort of assumed there were clamps just not pictured - but this is it. no problems with the screw, though, it runs well and clamps tight. I haven't measured it. oh, and it's not returnable - $70 return charge with no other return options. that's almost 100% of what I paid for it. ... show more

The surfaces that count are parallel and accurate to less than .001. This is a good vise. The body and back jaw mount are cast in one piece, no block, bolts or cross keys.

I got this vise after having a bad experience with a KURT style chinese knockoff that cracked at the back of the casting.... So i decided when i get this one, i wasn't going to be gentle in testing to make sure it does what a vise does. Hold stuff Boy, does it do that, i reefed on it hard enough to indent 1" 1045 steel and it didn't care. The screw didn't bind up and backed off fairly easily to loosen the monstrous grip. My biggest gripe is that my milling machine has smaller t-slots and this only has hardware for a bridgeport style t-slots and i need a bit smaller. I fixed the vise to the table using Toe Clamps which seem to work out fine and for that i wish it had a full length 3 hole fixture to fix it to the table snuggly (i'll just build one). What i really like so far is that the casting is smooth and ground all the way around, so it would be REALLY hard for them to hide things like casting voids with automotive body filler. The ways the jaw slides on seem a bit soft, but the jaws are incredibly hard. Overall, it is a good product and if you need a vise that is acceptably accurate, but incredibly tough - this thing won't treat you wrong ... show more

This purchase was a disappointment. The vise did not have ACME type threads as advertised. Furthermore there was a big dent on the jaw assembly. The shipping box and handling was ok so the dent was from factory. The handle was not as in the product photos and of poor quality. Due to the big dent the vise is not useable and will be returned. I bought this vise for a mini-milling machine. I have used it and found it to be well made and accurate enough for a home hobbyist like myself. It closes squarely and operates smoothly. Because I use this on a mini-mill space is critical I like the ability to remove the handle. This is a very minor issue, but I would recommend that you take a file to the top corners of the jaws as they were left sharp after grinding and are a knuckle skinner, this will not affect the function, but it will save your fingers. For the money I feel this vise is well worth the investment. ... show more
