This is a very nice dividing head for the money. Pretty well finished and smooth operating, very little lash in the gearing. If you were thinking to use an ER32 chuck in the headstock taper note that the taper is #2 Morse not #7B&S as stated in the specifications. That is really good news given that the ER32 chuck adapter for #2 Morse is much cheaper than the #7 B&S. They are also available with 10mm drawbar threads so you can eliminate the chance of slipping in the taper. I checked the run-out specifications and found the following: Radial run-out of the spindle nose spec 0.0006" Actual <0.0002" Radial run-out of spindle taper nose spec 0.0008" Actual was about 0.001" Radial run-out of spindle taper hole 4" distant 0.0014" Actual was 0.0025" Radial run-out of test bar with 3-jaw chuck 0.0031" Actual was 0.003" So the specs were pretty close and my measurements might not be perfect. The run-out with the 3-jaw chuck was due the the chuck back-plate (spindle nose locating diameter had <0.0002 TIR). The locating diameter for the chuck had a run-out of 0.0025". That could be corrected by taking a few thousandths off the locating diameter, center the chuck and use the mounting screws to lock it in. ... show more

I haven't actually used this for anything yet. I did however disassemble and check everything. Initial run-out was 7-10 thousandths and I was disappointed. I then installed the dead center and checked run-out and it was .0005 in. OK. that is great! I then re-installed the chuck and chucked in some ground drill rod and now run-out is .00025 in. WOW! Backlash is adjustable and was nearly perfect. The index plates look accurate so dividing should be accurate as well. I couldn't be happier with the value and the quality far exceeds my expectations. I was surprised there is no lock on the face plate to the spindle, not having used an dividing head before, I have no idea if this is normal. so while it's is possible to drive this up to 2400 rpm (its in the manual) there is no lock to keep the chuck on the face plate so turning something in reverse could unscrew the chuck. I'm not driving it so I don't care. I've paid nearly the same price for my MT-2 JT3 Jacobs chuck (super ball bearing chuck and arbor) for my drill and it has more run-out than this table. ... show more

This unit went into a shop that supports both a museum and a low volume commercial small job shop, so I did not expect to be doing divider work very often. However, I have found it to be very versital and its low profile makes it easy to add to the BP table along side the mill vise. My only complaints are that the tilt feature does not have a shot pin at either the 90 or 0 degree position and the jaws are not soft-jaw compatible. The tilt issue means that the chuck needs to be dialed in whenever it is moved and that it can be knocked out of tram just under normal operation. The soft-jaw problem is not really fixable, its just nice to be able to use soft jaws for delicate work. Despite these minor issues, its a good value for the money and I can see that it will be a workhorse in my shop. ... show more

bought to use the MT2 taper with a ER collet chuck. about +/-.002". not bad for the price and good enough for what im doing. there is tolerance stacking with the ER. so the head its self is proably around +/- .001.(measuring concentricity on MT2 bore to head roation)

Your tec support are complete morons that can't answer a simple question, (what does this machine plug into?). it took me two weeks asking simple questions before I was told it plugs into an engraving machine. the motor is a 3.85 DC motor. Lots of luck dealing with VeVor tech support. I won't buy from them again. nor will I purchase from Amazon again. complete morons.
