  • ... of the Wen drill press and have been very pleased with it so far
Style: 2.3 Amp, 8 Inch Drill Press
I purchased the 8-inch version of the Wen drill press and have been very pleased with it so far. I had seen it in the big-box store prior to purchasing it here on Amazon and I am glad that I purchased it on Amazon, it was $27 cheaper than at the store. So, that's pretty awesome! The overall construction is very good. The unit is nice and heavy, the base is super solid and supports the weight of the head of the unit very well. All of the castings are smooth and do not have any cracks. The baseplate might be small for some, but it's just about right for me. I plan on building a small fence for the bed so it will be extended anyways. Unfortunately, the bed of my unit does have some rust on it straight out of the box.(pictures) While it's a little bit of a bummer, it doesn't affect the performance of the machine. But it would be nice if it was rust free. I do have one slight complaint and it's mostly just because the lack of a feature. I am not a huge fan of how the depth guide works, the two nut setup is kind of a challenge to get right because the space is so tight to get a wrench in there. The nuts on my drill press were so tight, I had a hard time getting them loose in order to adjust the depth. If there was an alternate way to set the depth, or perhaps if the guide was moved outward a little from the head of the unit, that would make it easier to adjust. Once I freed the nuts, they have become a little easier to move, but the gap between the nuts / depth guide-rod and the head of the drill press is a little tight, so it does make getting the fingers in there a bit tight. It's doable though, just not ideal. Also, I do wish you could lock the drill press into a down position if you'd like, but it's not possible on this unit. Which I suppose is asking a bit much for something in this price range. I think you ptobsbly could add a nut at the bottom of the depth guide to act as a "lock" but other than that, it's not possible. All of the dials, nuts, bolts, belts and springs are extremely tight and adjusted just right. It's super sturdy as well as quiet, and it seems like it will serve it's needs very well. I would say it's worth the purchase. Especially for the price! ... show more

  • An amazing Drill Press!!!
Style: 2.3-Amp, 8-Inch Drill Press
The media could not be loaded. This is far better than I could have expected for a drill press. I will be honest, I was very skeptical about ordering equipment for my woodshop online. I much rather go to a hardware store and look at my products face-to-face. However, I am so thankful I got the WEN drill press. I used to use my drill to put holes in the materials, and with that, you cannot have a clean-cut hole in your materials because your hands won't be as steady. This drill press makes very clean punctures into the wood I use. I like making those triangle peg games, and the drill performed above expectations in regards to how straight and clean the holes were. Pros: Easy to operate Setup was a breeze VERY QUIET Has different levels of speed you can change based on your project Cons: It can be tough to move the bands to change the speed levels There is little to no padding to keep the drill from gliding off the table when it is on. I have a clamp holding it down to my workbench. Changing bits can be challenging but not terribly complicated I can confidently say this is the best drill press on Amazon right now, An awesome 9/10! ... show more

  • Pretty sweet for 100$
Style: 2.3-Amp, 8-Inch Drill Press
The media could not be loaded. The nut on the top belt case did pop off first time I opened it but I just tapped it out and put a short bolt that wouldn't hit the belt on it. Seems ok so far haven't drilled anything but seems steady and will surve my purposes . Solid little press tilt is a little cheesy but for 100$ who cares lol. Over all seems like a solid good little machine . ( Pay attention to directions as there are a few burs on the chuck that need cleaning with a fine file or diamond tip . Mine cleaned up decently prob not perfect but 100$ 8" drill press I can't really be to upset. Delivery was on time so that is good. Seems like everything I order on Amazon is problems these days so tiny nut falling off I can handle lol. I like it have some projects coming up think this little guy is gonna help out . Thanks 👍 (update been a few weeks) holding up descent. Lever did bend but I did reef it tight pretty good.. does descent if u use tap oil and go slow n steady. For 100$ I still like it. Make sure u have good bits as well. ... show more

  • Worth 10 stars
Style: 2.3-Amp, 8-Inch Drill Press
If I could give it 10* I would. This press is phenomenal. Sturdy, easy to set up and use. Easy to adjust the speeds when needed. I used it to drill 1/4" holes in 1/4" to 1" river rock on the 3/4 speed and it cut through them like butter with no binding or slowing down. Constant speed from start to finish. The tilt and up and down positions are a huge plus. After all the research I almost went with a different one but so glad I got this WEN. Totally worth the cost. Highly highly recommend. ... show more
