  • Finally found the perfect mattress!
Size: Little Dreamer Style: Little Dreamer
As first time parents, we spent a lot of time researching every single product a parent might buy for their new baby. One of the toughest products for us to decide upon was the best mattress for our soon to be born baby boy. So many differing opinions on the necessary firmness, the best materials, foam vs spring, etc. We spent weeks struggling with this decision. After all, apart from maybe the choice of car seat, this is probably the second most important product category in terms of infant and toddler safety. I read through countless hundreds of reviews, spent time examining and measuring dozens of different mattresses in stores. But with so much conflicting information, it was still hard to make a decision. I really wanted to go with the Colgate Classica I, one of the more popular choices at the moment and one of the recommendations in the book Baby Bargains, an excellent guide for parents-to-be. However, there are lots of conflicting reviews as to whether the Classica is actually TOO firm. After testing it out in person, I happen to agree with this. The Classica is the firmest mattress I found anywhere by leaps and bounds, to the point where I felt sure that it would be uncomfortably hard. After giving up on that idea, I found this Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer to be my next choice. I liked the idea of a company founded with the sole focus of creating the best possible crib mattress. Furthermore, it has the added benefits of being made of top quality, eco-friendly materials. No worries about chemicals or low grade materials, as this product is built and designed right here in the United States out of medical grade foam. We wanted foam over spring, as foam is significantly lighter in weight, which aids in those late night sheet changes. The dual sided densities are an excellent feature. To me, the firmest side feels like the absolute perfect level of firmness for a newborn/infant. Its very firm to the point where it feels certain to be safe, but with just the slightest bit of give to feel like it will still be somewhat comfortable. The slightly less firm side is still plenty firm, but with a little extra give for when your baby gets older. I also love the fact that the mattress is side stitched. This is a feature that never would have even crossed my mind when I first started looking. Instead of the standard construction where the seems of the mattress are bonded around the top edges of the mattress, the seams on the Little Dreamer are around the middle of the sides, one long continuous seam around the entire circumference, bonded together in a way where they are almost completely flat. This means if something spills on the cover, or if the baby has an accident, there are no crevices for anything to get trapped, and no space for mold to grow. The cover is also water resistant so nothing gets soaked into the mattress. Also, for anyone looking, we are using this mattress in the Babyletto Hudson crib, and it is a perfect snug fit. The corners are very square and it perfectly fits our crib, no unsafe gaps. We love the crib too, apart from one issue with a piece that was drilled incorrectly (replaced quickly by Amazon) it is absolutely wonderful. You can read my review about it on the product page. I realize there are many cheaper options out there, but this is one product where I feel justified in spending a little extra to get something as high quality as this mattress. Buy it and never look back, you won't regret it. ... show more

  • Thank You Moonlight Slumber for commenting on the negative reviews with facts and producing a safer mattress choice for babies
I have an Moonlight Slumber dual firmness mattress I purchased from a boutique store three years ago. We absolutely love it and our toddler still uses it. We love that it is safe for infants, and it has lasted three years so far with no rips, tears, or sagging. This is one of the few splurges we believe in shelling out for. Our toddler sleeps in the same spot every night for three years and this mattress has held up wonderfully. It does not creak, make goofy noises, have air pockets, warp, sag or have a funny foam odor. It is truly a great mattress compared to others we have tested through family and friends. I would sleep on it if I could. We have used the firm side ever since we brought our baby home three years ago and he sleeps so soundly that we have never flipped it over to the less firm side. Current Purchase-- Fast Forward three years and we need two more crib mattresses. The store we purchased the first Moonlight Slumber mattress no longer carried that brand so we took to the internet to find what we needed. I was initially very discouraged after reading a particular negative review stating the mattresses being sold here were a fraud and dangerous and unsafe. After hours of research on safe crib mattresses, researching companies and the materials being used in mattresses, we were still convinced that Moonlight Slumber produces a quality mattress that met the requirements we were comfortable allowing our infants to sleep on. Now we just needed to find out where we could make our purchase. Contact with the Company--Three months later, I came back to Amazon and read the reviews again. I noticed comments under the initial negative review that initially turned us away. I added a comment asking the reviewer to please clarify which vendor sold the fraudulent mattress, to which I was never provided an answer. I also read the comments directly from a Moonlight Slumber representative, Patti Connor. I decided to look up the company directory on their website and found Patti Connor. I called her directly and spoke with her about my concerns and the negative reviews. I am so happy I continued asking questions and researching the nature of that negative review. Patti Connor was wonderful to speak with and explained the new branding of their mattresses and why some might would think it was a fraud as compared to the prior branding technique using a screen print they used a few years ago. Her comments are posted here on Amazon under the negative review if you are interested in further details. After speaking with her, she gave me one name of the online vendor that I could feel comfortable purchasing from through Amazon and I continued with my ordered using the vendor Quiverr. Our two mattresses were shipped super fast, and were exactly what I expected. We compared it to our toddler's mattress and it felt the same. The mattresses fit our DaVinci cribs perfectly with no gaps. We are very happy. We wish more companies would take the time to back up their product and comment on user reviews with facts. It is also nice to be able to call the company and speak with a real person. We also purchased a Moonlight Slumber pack and play mattress and are very happy with it as well. ... show more

  • Worth the Price
Size: Crib Style: Luxury Dreamer
This mattress is certainly on the pricey side but we’ve found it to be worth it. We just bought our second one for our second baby. Love the fact that it has two sides. It essentially becomes more comfortable once you flip it over to the toddler side. It’s soft while providing the proper safety guidelines and sturdy enough to handle toddler antics. You can tell the mattress is high quality and my two year old sleeps 12 hours on it every night in addition to a daytime nap. He has rarely woken up sweaty so it doesn’t get too hot either. We’ve been very happy with these purchases. ... show more

This is the best 5inch mini crib mattress. I love that it has an infant and a toddler side. Really good quality. My little one sleeps great in it.

  • Finally, a product that does not have a toxic smell.
Size: Mini-Crib Style: Luxury Dreamer
One of the rare products that does not have a toxic smell or made out of questionable materials. Not quite a full five inches thick. Heavy plastic industrial material on the outside. I hope that the inner layers are durable and last long and do not dry out in time as so many foam and gel types of padding do now. But, worth the price for something that has no fragrance, scent, smells, or outgassing (foam). ... show more
