  • Best Monster hunter to date.
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
I bought 2 copies of this amazing game one for myself and one for a family member. Been playing Monster Hunter Worlds, that was released on PS4. Found this version Wildlands to be less complicated and a lot easier to play. There is online and single player modes and worth the money with the amount of gameplay hours 25-40hrs+. ... show more

  • Amazing combat and love the thrill of the hunt.
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
Absolutely love this game. For those claiming the game is too easy, try playing solo instead: the game is as easy or difficult as one wants to make it.

  • Great Game for The Fans
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
Gotten several hours in so far and I can say this game builds on the last one. Great for the fans of the series too!

  • Unless you like this franchise don't bother
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
The story line sucks the game play is roughly the same as in previous games this feels to me like nothing more than a poorly done DLC for the last monster hunter.

  • Doing the bare minimum
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
TLDR: It’s modern Monster Hunter with almost everything you love from Monster Hunter World and Iceborne. It might as well be called “Monster Hunter World 2 for PS4 on your PS5”. The monster fights (for the most part) are just as engaging and even more streamlined than Monster Hunter World. Your Palico can now talk (although you can turn this off in the game’s settings) and is better at auto-magically healing you, setting monster traps, pulling aggro away from you, and calling out monster states like when the monster is enraging, moving to another location, or about to die. The Sekreit (secret?) mount is pretty amazing in automatically running you directly toward the quest objective and the monster. You can also, sort of, fight while riding your mount. For gathering, endemic or small monster hunting, you can pin locations on your map to have your mount run to those. It’s like a taxi service with zero wait time, and yes, there’s also quick travel to other camp sites. The only downside is that you’re no longer actually “hunting” monsters anymore. You’re just seeing an icon on your map and your mount is running you right to it, without you doing anything else. The story and voice acting is also much better but we’re not winning any awards here. It’s clear that Capcom is dumping a lot of their cinematic story-telling budget into their Resident Evil series and nothing else. But I do appreciate that there’s a slightly more coherent story to follow versus Monster Hunter World. So, everything else. I think Capcom is going through an identity crisis on what to do with low-level gameplay in their Monster Hunter series. Ultimately, many of us will blast through this whole experience to get to high rank armor and weapons, and a small portion of us will more-or-less pause playing the game waiting for the “G-rank Expansion”. The game suffers because of this mentality. The core experience, before “end-game”, is diluted. It’s too easy, streamlined, and on-rails. In many moments, you’re just moving from one cut-scene and monster to another. As soon as the cut-scenes stop, and you get back to camp, replenish your health potions and supplies because you may not get another chance for another hour or so. I barely noticed any sidequests, and have no desire to do any of them knowing that I’m replacing several pieces of gear every hour anyway. Monster Hunter World was not like this. Even low-level monsters and gear felt important. High rank was just harder monsters with harder-hitting weapons. Also, this game has 29 monsters to start (less than World on launch) and honestly, a huge chunk of those felt like a waste of time to fight. With other problems like a lackluster game-engine, a terrible PC-port, and some people running into game-breaking bugs, it feels like Capcom is doing the bare minimum. Hopefully future updates, patches, in-game events, and the inevitable expansion will change my mind on that. ... show more

  • An amazing game that sadly suffers from optimization issues
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Standard
This is an amazing game! Capcom definitely did an amazing job and elevated what Monster Hunter is. This is definitely worth the price tag. However, the only reason I don’t give this game 5 stars is due to graphical and optimization issues. Even on PS5 this game looks extremely blurry in performance mode due to the horrendous upscaling techniques utilized. Balance and quality modes bring better clarity but a fast pases action game running at 30-40 fps should not be the norm in 2025. Overall, this is an amazing game that sadly suffers from optimization issues. ... show more
