🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Customers have shared mixed feedback on this bike. It's praised for its good value, ease of assembly, and suitability for riders of different sizes, including larger individuals. However, some have experienced durability issues, including tires that frequently lose air, and components like the derailleur and brakes that may require professional adjustments or replacements. Despite its affordable price and initial performance, heavy or intense use appears to challenge its long-term reliability.

Pros

  • 🚴 Fits larger individuals comfortably
  • 🔧 Easy to assemble with minimal effort
  • 🏞️ Great for leisurely rides and has an appealing design
  • 💰 Good value for the price

Cons

  • 🛠️ May require professional adjustments or replacement parts

  • 🚲 Durability issues with intense use
  • 😖 Some riders found the bike uncomfortable without additional seat padding

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for an affordable bike for casual, leisurely rides and are willing to invest in potential upgrades or adjustments, this could be a good option. However, if you're planning on heavy or intense use, especially on rough terrain, you might want to consider other more durable options.

  • Very Good bike for the money. *****UPDATED review 6 months
Color: Black/Red Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Status 2.2 Pattern Name: Mountain
So far so good. I bought this for my 16 yr old son He is a big guy 6 ft 250 pds and I was worried it would be too small as it said medium frame. But it fits him perfectly and not small at all. he put it together quickly and easily. Really only had to attach front wheel ,handle bars ,seat and pedals - pretty much already assembled . He was out with friends riding in the state park within 30 minutes of putting it together And he was riding it for more than four hours and said it handles well Only issue he had (which I saw from other reviews also ) was he has a sore butt ! I recommend either changing the seat or getting a gel pad cover for it ! Only day one But so far so good seems sturdy and supports a big guy UPDATED: so we are 6 months in and the bike has needed a few adjustments. First off I had to take it to the bike shop because the handlebars continued to slip and loosen however I don’t know what the bike shop did but they fixed it and it doesn’t come loose anymore. Second. The tires kept popping and / or loosing air changed inner tubes a few times and then changed both tires out to something sturdier with Teflon and now they do not loose any air Still all in all it’s a Good bike for the money but be prepared to re-do a few things on it if it gets heavy use ... show more

  • Great bike for the money.
Color: Black/Red Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Status 2.2 Pattern Name: Mountain
Great bike. My son loves it. Only complaint was adjusting the derailer assembly, which required removal of a set screw that was insanely tight. So tight, that my hex key broke and the screw needed to be drilled, extracted, and replaced. That said, the rest of the assembly was great. I spoke with Mongoose about the issue and they made it right. I would definitely do business with them again. It is nice to see a company stand behind their products. ... show more

  • Watch for untrued wheels
Color: Teal Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Status 2.2 Pattern Name: Mountain
I finally got around to set the bike up for riding, the front tire gave me grief and behold the wheel was way out of alignment. Took the tire and tube off and after 45 minutes finally got it aligned(trued). If you dont have the skills take it to the bike shop for alignment, Also the bearings on the front axle are gritty, may have to address that down the road so to speak. Other wise not a bad bike. • Buyer beware - not a quality bike
Color: Black/Red Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Status 2.2 Pattern Name: Mountain
I had this bike for under five months, and logged about 330 miles on it; most of the miles were road miles around my town with varying elevations doing between 15-20mph, usually no less than 10 miles at a time. I would not recommend this bike to anyone who wants to use it for anything more than leisurely, slow rides around a neighborhood for the following reasons: The first few rides, I had a pedal fall off (almost crashed), and the handlebars come loose; those may have been an issue with assembly and not tightening up enough, but it's not like I left everything so loose that those things should have happened. It got to the point where I always carried tools with me on my rides in case those things occurred again. The chain skipped for almost the entirety of the time I used it over 4-5 months, and it eventually got to the point where downshifting to gears under maybe 13th gear caused the chain to grind horribly against the gears, sometimes popping the chain off. It rusted at many different points (possibly from me sweating on it, but come on). The gears were always difficult to get exactly in the correct position, brake adjustments were often required and they were always squeaky The kicker of all these downsides occurred on my last ride, where downshifting at the end of the ride caused the chain to pop off the gear. It popped off while I had my full weight on a down-pedal and this cause the chain to get stuck around the derailleur and literally tear it off, bending the gears, snapping the housing, and rendering the bike completely unusable. Thankfully I purchased the coverage plan where I was fully reimbursed for the bike, but that is besides the point. This is a definitely a you-get-what-you-pay for product, but I shudder to think what would happen to someone who took this on actual mountain bike trails. I fear someone could be seriously injured because of the poor quality. Buy at your own risk. ... show more

  • GOOD WELDS
Color: Teal Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Status 2.2 Pattern Name: Mountain
It's a low-end mountain bike. The cycling guys made fun of me. But Hey... Nice paint (after removing the silly decals, as I always do). Good welds (on par with Razor). Aluminum frame. As a technician, good welds are always good to see.
