  • Small, cheap, clean HDMI output, but impossible to focus. Use as fixed camera!
Color: With 2.8-12mm Varifocal HD Lens
I purchased these to use with a Blackmagic ATEM Pro in a streaming application, along with some of those clever smart clamps. I was pretty immediately impressed with how good they were, despite being so dinky. They're good, sharp, bright cameras with good color. The screw mount on top and bottom allows for some more creative mounting possibilities. There's a full electronic menu of configurations that I haven't even bothered to delve into, yet. The downside is the lens they ship with. It is actually a pretty good lens, but they're underselling how 'varifocal' they are. They are so far away from parfocal, it is maddening. When you change the zoom at ALL, the focus is completely disrupted. Then, when you focus, it appears to subtly change the zoom. This makes actually framing a shot with any precision nigh impossible. Add to it that the focus ring is SUPER sensitive. If you brush against it, it's gonna move and you're going to lose your focus. That said, the lens handles are also their set-screw. So, once you DO get an image locked in, you can carefully lock down the lens so it can't move. Because of this, I think these are best used a fixed-cameras. Put them up, away from the talent, set them up, and hope to never touch them again. Do not use these in a portable rig. I would have preferred pigtailed cables instead of hard sockets, since I think the HDMI jack is going to end up being a reliability problem in the long-run. Protect them from torque as best you can. The power supply cable is somewhat disturbingly thin, and just a tiny bit too short. Fortunately, they appear to be pretty standard security camera voltages and pinouts, so you'll be able to modify parts as needed. (Someone needs to build some HDMI+power hydra cables!) I don't think these replace a good DSLR or purpose-built camcorder, but as a sky-cam or wide-shot camera to fill in the extra inputs, I don't think they can be beat, especially not at their price. ... show more

  • Great cam
Color: With 3.2MM No Distortion lens
The media could not be loaded. I was pleasantly surprised that this thing had 4K@30fps setting when it was advertised as 1080p@60fps, the settings are kind of hard to figure out, you have to play with it a while to figure it out but it's a great hdmi camera that i use as a surveillance camera on my 4k tv ... show more

  • Like AIDA HD-100A but much lower price
Color: With 5-50MM Telephoto Zoom lens )
We've been working with the AIDA HD-100A plus Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro to livestream and record yoga classes during the pandemic. This is a super alternative - nearly perfect form / fit / function, at a much lower price, and includes an optical zoom lens (the AIDA comes with a fixed fisheye; had to buy replacement lenses) About the only thing missing is an audio input (not a biggie - we're mostly running separate audio into the ATEM Mini Pro). The little joystick control is mounted on the camera body which makes it a little touch to adjust without moving the camera, but we're using these for a fly-pack (the AIDA cams are permanently mounted). Time will tell in terms of reliability and have not done a head to head in terms of image quality. Maybe if I'm bored sometime I'll set that up! ... show more

  • Easy to setup/ use
Color: With 3.2MM No Distortion lens
Well programmed on many levels - it supports an ample range of scan rates / resolutions for connecting to monitors/recorders. Image is good for the price. Always a tad of noise in the shadow areas - but this is normal for a security grade device. Lens is simple -- just focus. Sharpest range for this camera is actually under 6'. Has excellent macro / closeup focus capabilities with this lens. 12' out to infinity - you need to focus on a larger screen (monitor) to nail it with max sharpness. I purchased this to use as an extra camera when videoconferencing (HDMI switcher) and it is perfect for this application. Will probably purchase 1/2 more of these. ... show more

  • Won’t find another camera with these features for the price
Color: With 5-50MM Telephoto Zoom lens )
It’s basic, no frills, but overall it’s a pretty solid camera for the price! My opinions: I wish they would get rid of the IR sensor (a remote control is not included for some reason so it’s a useless “feature”) and replace it with a 3.5mm stereo mic input. Also, the single hex screw that secures the lens onto the cameras are never tight from the factory and are extremely tiny and hard to tighten. This leads to the lens getting out of focus when making adjustments to the actual lens adjustments with no instruction on how to reset to a factory spec focus point after it’s been moved. (I’m sure this might be a basic thing for an experienced camera person but if your buying this, you’re probably not experienced enough to know what you’re doing) They should replace this with a thumb screw similar to the ones used to focus the adjustable lens to make it easier to tighten. The top and bottom 1/4in mounts are great! ... show more

  • Great lens, but the white balance won't even get close to accurate for me
Color: With 2.8-12mm Varifocal HD Lens
I had hoped to use this camera as a webcam alternative, to get a different viewpoint that straight out of my laptop. The ability to adjust the aperture, zoom and focus are awesome, and while it is VERY finicky to get the focus right, it's not impossible. Definitely don't plan on changing that often..it's better to set it and forget it. The real issue with this camera is that it lacks any warmth to the color tones and everything appears more blue than it is in real life. I spent an hour playing with the white balance and anything that makes it more realistic adds overblown blue details anywhere that's slightly overexposed. It ends up looking like a cheap cell phone camera from 10 years ago. Really wanted this to work, but it isn't going to for my intended purpose. In addition to that, when I was testing it the day after I had set it up, it started to cut out the video over and over, to the point that Zoom actually turned video off multiple times. Seems to be lacking in quality. ... show more
