This Smart Home system is the first water security system that monitors and protects your home from leaks and water damage with a single device, no additional sensors needed. Designed by plumbing and tech industry professionals, Flo by Moen is installed on the main water supply line of the home. Through the Flo by Moen mobile app or your web browser, you can see live water use, including water flow rates, pressure and even temperature. If the device detects an issue (e.g. high pressure, freezing water or a small leak) it will alert you through the app so you can fix it before that issue causes damage. If there's a catastrophic failure, like a burst pipe or someone leaves the water running, you'll be alerted in the app allowing you to shut the water off - no matter where you are. In the event of a main power disruption in your home, this battery backup accessory will sustain your Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff device’s (works with 3/4″, 1″ and 1-1/4″ sizes) operations for 3+ days. In normal operating mode, the unit passes 12 VDC to your Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff device and maintains battery charge level. If there is an AC line disruption, your Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff device will immediately switch to the battery supply in order to maintain power to your device. To install, simply plug the Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff device into the battery backup and plug the battery backup into the wall. No pairing or additional setup is needed! Purchased this based on the brand name Moen. Moen is the brand that i use mostly for all my Shower, faucet applications. Overall, this is a well built product but I am disappointed to learn that basic functionality reporting is lacking unless you buy a subscription service. For 500.00, the basics should be included. The pros: Customer service was great. I needed them right off the bat as in order to sync the device, your phone needs to be able to scan a barcode. Unfortunately, this code is ONLY on the device and the device was installed in a dim lit section of my basement. Could not get flashlight to direct light correctly. Luckily, the service rep could email me my bar code to my phone. even better would have been that bar code would be in box too. Every house needs one of these... hoping Moen hears the customer and opens up some of the basic functionality and saves the subscription service for more advanced functionality. ... show more

Good concept, but too expensive! $500 item that only has a one year warranty, unless you subscribe to a $5/month FloProtect subscription service. The warranty is extended to three years with FloProtect. Most of the features are only available with $5/month FloProtect subscription. Page 2-3 of install guide has an incorrect diagram of system install (shut-off valve, pressure regulator positions are reversed). The power connecter on my unit has about 1/8" of movement and goes inside device when plugging power cable in. One cosmetic issue: if device is installed vertically, the Flo label is upside down. ... show more

Operating for a week. Must pay $5/month subscription to have any sort of useful dashboard/telemetry. It’s been 96hrs and still no reply from Moen customer support. There is an on-line chat option but always receive a notice that it’s after hours— to include 1100 am EDT. I’ve tried the Moen help line—. Message indicating there is no one available and to leave a message; again, no reply. I paid $150 for a licensed plumber to install the device. It will be an additional $150 to uninstall in order to return it to Amazon. I paid ~$425 including tax for the device. No I wait for the item to have a catastrophic failure and flood my home. Update- customer service did finally reply approximately 10 days later. They were not helpful. Dashboard is still not useful. Although, it does tell me how many gallons I used for the day. My Digital water meter provides the same information. I can log onto my municipal water account and receive the same information )granted not as convenient as opening an app. ). The subscription attempts to delineate whether it’s a faucet, shower, toilet or garden source, but it’s inaccurate, this useless). I do not thing this information is worth $5/month- $5/yr? Maybe. But at the end of the day, the information received is still inaccurate and I can monitor my water usage via my water bill.   • Use their installer or get no warranty

If you do not use one of their installers this product has no warranty. That is an absolutely horrible policy! This is about the simplest thing to install and yet they don’t let you do that.

  • Quality Product and already paid for itself!

Okay, I did a ton of research to find the best water/leak detection system available today. I finally decided to try Flo by Moen, because it had great reviews on everything I could find about Flo. I’m an engineer and I’m very particular about what I buy and I look for mainly quality but also price. I’m also very into smart devices (lights, alarm system, and yes, water leak sensors), but I wanted a whole home leak detection system and auto shutoff! Water damage sucks and we have known many families who came home after being away to find water flowing out the front door and then months of repair and living in hotels, insurance claims, etc. It’s 2020 and it’s about time there is something to prevent disasters! Okay, enough of what you already know... Flo arrived yesterday from Amazon (Friday) and I woke up this morning wanting to install it. Pre-Installation: You know a product is gonna be good when it arrives and the packaging is nice and has clear instructions. Well, I opened the box and the instructions were easy, setting up and account with the app (I use an iPhone) and the app is excellent. Easy setup with the Flo device, WiFi and Flo App. Installation: I thought about installing it myself, but I’m not crazy about working on plumbing. I decided to hire Dutton Plumbing and I called them at 9am and they were here at 11am. I won’t give prices here because I’m not reviewing the plumbing company (although they did a great job and also raved about Flo by Moen). Fair price for a great job and peace of mind that it’s installed perfectly. See pictures. 30 minutes or so later and they were done. They even hung around and helped with app to ensure Flo operation from the app was good. Post Installation: The plumbers left and I started noticing the water pressure increasing... 80,90,100... at 108psi I shutoff the water with Flo and turned off the main city valve. I turned the water on again and the pressure went up again.. see picture showing 83psi... but it was still going up again (I didn’t get a screenshot at 108, but I was so freaked out I didn’t get a screenshot). Anyhow, I suspected I had a bad water pressure regulator because the faucets have been spraying to hard when turned on. I went to a local plumbing supply and got a new regulator and replaced it in 10 minutes. Turned water on and now the pressure is a steady 50psi (or thereabouts) and nice and normal! So, Flo already identified a HUGE issue and now it’s resolved! Crisis averted! I’m super happy with it so far and the app is stellar good! Summary: It’s working and I’m happy to see such a quality device / App combo work so well and this is now by far the smartest and most useful smart device in the house. Support: I did not rate the support because I’ve not need to contact support yet. However, the website and app support pages look good and full of information. Protection Plan: There is $5/month protection plan and I’m on the free 30 days. So, I’m not going to review that portion of the service yet. The next day I woke up at 6am and noticed that 93 gallons of water were used since midnight! I see the water come on every 4 minutes for 5-10 seconds or so... found a toilet that was running (with a leaky flapper valve) wasting water! I shut off the toilet and fixed went to Home Depot for parts and fixed it. Flo saved me again! I don’t usually rave about a product, but I have to say this thing is great! Just to note, Flo did not alert me that there was a toilet wasting water, I just noticed the number of gallons used was 93 since midnight. Flo is still in “learning mode” while learning the habits of the house water usage, it takes 7-10 days before Flo will become able to auto shutoff and leak send alerts.
