  • Cute Disc
I'll admit that I bought this almost wholly for its looks. I use SmartThings and used to have a SmartThings water leak sensor. I lost that sensor in a move and SmartThings no longer makes it. Other water leak sensors are big and boxy. I really liked the way this one looked. I liked it so much that even though it doesn't work with SmartThings and I'd have to buy another hub to use it (Aqara), I did. And for the record, the Aqara hub is terrible. It's nothing like SmartThings. It's the most difficult frustrating thing to set up and it remains so each time you try to add a new device to it. This device was no different. Once I got the Aqara hub up and running, I added this device to it through the Mi Home app then slid the sensor under my clothes washer. I really like the shape and form factor of this sensor. It's small, very low profile, and looks like a little cookie from the future. I plan on buying another to slide under the dishwasher. For all its headaches, Aqara makes the best looking sensors and if you can deal with the setup, they're worth it. ... show more

  • works as described
As expected. Works as documented with Homekit. Did not test tech support and no experience with battery life (yet).

  • Works with ZHA
Works with ZHA in Home assistant. Don't take the battery cover off unless you need to. The o-ring is hard to get re-aligned.

  • pretty great
for the money this has been a great sensor. While i love the aqara app, i prefer hubitat and was able to pair this to hubitat using a custom driver (easy enough to find on google). It's been working great at a great price

  • Decent little sensor
I bought this to monitor if the sump pump in the crawlspace ever failed and we started to have pooling water. Unfortunately the signal strength isn't that great down there and it disconnected a lot. I moved it upstairs by a window with an AC unit in it to monitor if rain or condensation started building up on the window sill instead and it's been pretty steady since. Paired with a Sonoff zigbee antenna in Home Assistant no problem. If you have a decent mesh of zigbee routers signal strength may not be as much of an issue. Also, this device only checks in when there's a change above a certain threshold, so you may need to adjust timeout settings to avoid it being deemed unresponsive. ... show more

  • A potential life-saver, but....
you will need to fully test them before use. I have bought four of these over the last year. First two worked fine, but one stopped working after a couple of months. The replacement worked fine. The fourth one did not detect water. Not sure if I want another, since 50% of what I bought did not work. But when they work, they can save you a lot of time, money and anguish. I was very glad to have one when my sewer line backed up twice. The sensor detected moisture, sent a signal to Home Assistant, and I got a notification on my phone quickly so I could deal with the problem before it got worse. ... show more
