  • Great Device - Great Customer Service
I love small tech devices and this is one is one of the best things I have ever found on Amazon. At first, I had a configuration problem as the device doesn't come with a physical reset button so be careful when modifying settings as you can stay outside the WebUI if you can not connect again to the WiFi originating from this device. Essentially DO NOT uncheck the DHCP option. After contacting and exchanging several emails with the seller to fix the issue, we didn't find the solution to the problem. They were very responsive(Mancy) The solution: This is the best part, as they are sending me another device, free of charge. Without a doubt I can buy stuff from SunRise again, as now I know that they take care of their customers. Will keep you posted after I get my replacement. ... show more

  • Doest not work as advertised
Color: LDW931-L
After some more investigation and reading other reviews I have found that this device simply does not work as advertised. The product description clearly states it can be used " in 2 modes USB Modem & WiFi Router". After testing I can confirm that is works (poorly) in the wifi router mode. When using it as a router, connected devices are able to reach the internet at ~5mbps. When connected as a USB modem (AKA to a computer that doesn't have wifi) speeds cap out at <.2mpbs. If I knew that using it as a USB modem was this horrible I would have never bought it. Stay away. Original Review ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The device connects. That is about it. Even connecting to the device itself thru the web portal is painfully slow, let alone the connection it provides. When it is connected, i get ~.1-.2 mbps. I have tried adjust multiple settings, TTL, etc. The problem is with the device. Junk. Dont buy. ... show more

  • Another Linux User
Color: LDW931-L
Saw another Linux reviewer, not sure what their system is but wanted to add my review on Linux Running Rocky Linux 9.3 on a Thin Client with a AMD GX-212JC SOC and 4GB of RAM T-Mobile Postpaid USA service. With 4G service for the first 20GB (I think) and after that unlimited 3G speeds. Intent is to use this to send last messages if the main or backup internet goes down or before power in the UPS goes out. So not being used for normal internet use. Device is simple, plug it in and it appears as an ethernet device. You will have to configure it with Network Manager (nmtui or nmcli) but you will see it as a device if you run nmcli devices show. Set it to use dhcp and you will be connected to the internet using the device. The device acts as a wifi router, so you can simply connect to it with a browser, the initial IP will be 192.168.0.1 and password is admin. I disabled the wifi portion of it. So I have no comments positive or negative on the wifi portion of it. If you are reasonably tech savvy (if you are the guy family calls to help with their network) you can probably figure this device out. I did a port scan against the device (192.168.0.1) and something was listening on port 4719 and you can connect to it via netcat or telnet. It does prompt you for a username and password. So it is strange that a port is opened but no documentation came with it explaining what that port is. Been running for a week now and although I can get to Internet with this device, the web interface is no longer available. The web interface is cool and I was able to send and receive SMS messages, don't know of a way to script it though. Conclusion: For my use case it does the job, but this will probably not work for 24/7 internet replacement. For on the road use or something temporary, it does the job. ... show more

  • Not good with Linux
Color: LDW931-L
I used this product with T-Mobile (& MVNOs) in the USA. The cellular performance is OK. However, despite the product info saying it works with Linux, I don't recommend it for that. And woe to you if you need support. When plugged into Linux (via USB), it initially recognizes the device correctly as a network interface, and hands out an IP like 192.168.100.100. However, after being plugged in for some time, it does a modeswitch to a GSM modem (but is then not usable as such) and can't be reset without unplugging it. I tried putting the USB port into standby and so on, but no programmatic way other than physically unplugging it to reset. Support first said that it only works with Windows, then when I pointed out that the product page says Linux, they said I had to connect via WiFi if using Linux. No good, my Linux machine doesn't have WiFi. The device might be OK on Windows or if plugging in for brief periods. But if you are looking to use it for longer periods or in an unattended location, e.g. as a failover connection, then I do not recommend it. The reliability just isn't there. ... show more
